1200 Advice Required For Fuelling Issue

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Sprockit, Jul 28, 2014.

  1. Hi all, been lurking for a while but just recently joined and posted in the welcome section.

I have an issue with the bike that I hope you can help me with.

I have a multistrada 1200 abs with Leo Vince decat, k and n filter, and standard exhaust. I fitted fat ducs to cure fueling and they initially worked brilliantly, however, recently in this hot weather (anything over 19 degrees) when on a steady throttle it misfires and splutters, which is cleared by either letting off throttle or opening throttle. Tried the air adjustment screw but it does not cure it. It also pops and bangs on decel when the temperature is high. When the temperature drops it is fine again. Trawled the internet but cannot find an answer but have seen some similar posts on the diavel forum albeit without answers. I suspect it's overfueling but not sure if this is a faulty fat duc or how to test.

Hope you can help because it's driving me mad.

    Thanks.

  2. Double check they're connected properly, if yes, try whipping them off and ride it to pin down if it is the FATDUC's. Could see if anyone local has them and swap them out one at a time. Ultimate solution is a remap. I had FD 's a while back and don't remember temperature affecting anything. Hope you sort it out.

  3. Think I have a single FATDUC (long story) you can have if you want to try swapping them out, let me know and I'll try n find it later

  4. Thank you, connections are all ok. I will try taking them out and if that works I will get back to you about the spare fat duc. Its strange as it only happens when hot.. must be pressure related?

  5. Just a thought, check the connection to the induction sensor and also the air intake hose on the right-hand side of the bike, you can see the sensor if you look down by the headstock on that side. If the hose is fitted incorrectly I have heard of similar problems.

  6. Thanks. Checked sensor and intake tubes-all seem ok. Going to do a test without fat ducs and see if it's cured. Are there any other temperature sensors..it definitely seems like a sensor/temp issue?

  7. I've the same set up as you, albeit I've a DNA air filter and the nearside of the airbox opened up.
My bike runs like a dream after the remap by cjs.
The was a massive difference in the stock maps (spark and fuel) to the custom developed ones.
Chris has this lovely 3d graphics for each and visually you could see the difference.
Note it was 31°C outside air temp during my last 10 dyno runs.

  8. I could do with a remap but unfortunately too far away from cjs. I am not sure if it's possible to remap the ecu without the bike?. Will try experimenting with above suggestions and see if it improves. Problem now is it's not warm enough!
