My newbie thread has got nearly 2000 views. I think I should get a share of the advertisement money you guys get from the site. I know the response, 'you get to use this site for free, so shut up'
More interestingly, how much does it cost compared to how much does it bring in in advertising revenue? I don't expect an answer to this, no matter how much I'd like to have it. Also, what does it really cost in terms of time? (Not so much faffing about reading and writing, but maintenance and programming.)
2000 views? Pah. I fart in the direction of your thread! My Word Association.......... | Ducati Forum - has 109,677 views as of right now!
Yeah but four people with 27000 odd views each.....and no regulation of any rules -repetition, hesitation, deviation......
Hesitation - No. It was done with utmost confidence. Repetition - Of course. It's the law Deviation - None whatsoever. As I said it was done with confidence
does it matter if the site makes money, long as it continues as log as you want it to? Its like ambulance chasing your hits..
It varies hugely depending on who hosts it, how fast it is etc. I used to run a small American car forum quite a few years ago, our URL was hosted on the cocos islands giving us a pretty nice .cc URL (car club) and using (iirc) mini bb the cost was about £40 per year. It was a far smaller forum though, I'd expect this one to cost many many times that.
