I find the pump version far better than the aerosol, never really got good coverage with the aerosol.

 

The pump is rubbish as it will fail. Agree it is cheaper though.

I've reverted to using the aerosols as I hate things that don't work properly.

 

I paid about 30 for the large bottle and pump spray about 2 years ago. The spray has had massive amounts of use on my two bikes and still works perfectly. It's far cheaper than using the spray cans.

Here's a tip - spray nuts and bolts etc with a rag behind. You end up with a nice acf soaked rag for wiping stuff over.

 

I want a spray pump like yours ^ : ) on my fifth from about 4 years ago - I keep a 'new' one ready for dousing continuously but know it will fail as soon as its left to stand. Even tried cleaning/drying one to see if it preserved gland in pump - it didn't. It is the fluid itself that affects it's action in time.

That's fine if it's not a ducati and you don't ride it in all weathers. My old CBR600RR saw 25k miles and 4 winters with no ACF50 and it was mint when I sold it. Somehow don't think the duc will take the same abuse

 

You underestimate Ducatis, they're as hardy as any other bike. And even when I was dispatching my bikes left me cleaner than when I bought them. It really ain't hard.

 

Sorry but I don't buy that at all. My mutely is less than 2yrs old and barely seen rain and I've got some flaking paint around the front head and on the water pump cover (and look at the plethora of complaints re crappy thin paint on here). I'm not having a go, I love the bike and will sort the niggles myself but I'm saying a Honda / jap bike they are not in terms of build quality. That CBR was indestructible

 

Totally agree. There's a penance to pay if you do anything other than a Sunday afternoon blat on the MTS (figuratively). My other bikes by comparison fair infinitely better by direct comparisons for the same use. The necessary ratio of cleaning v's riding is unreasonably disproportionate.

 

Flaky engine paint is a Ducati speciality, it certainly ain't a new phenomenon. If you think you can save it by applying a coating and not washing it, good luck to you...

Read the instructions. Hosing the bike down does not constitute a clean, in my opinion. But any more than that and you'll have to keep re-applying the ACF50. If you want to lob all that money away then go right ahead.

 

Yep. In the winter I'll be reapplying to keep it sorted. It's not a lot of money on a £15k bike

 

actually the real winner is rocol,weve been using it for years in the quarry/mine enviroments on everything from open screeners to fresh welds on the plant and of course our roping on the winches etc,(mind,reading this part of forum, a multi wouldnt survive a week in those conditions even if you covered it in underseal and sealed it in an freezer bag i imagine. :Hilarious: )

my st2 was out all through the last two winters ,ridden daily,couple of squirts of rocol after each wash,result,no rust at all.
