We did the EMM trip in 8 days which was to the Dolomites... But you can find great roads without going quite so far, Germany is excellent, although you don't get the really high passes. 2014 EUROPEAN MULTISTRADA MEETING I'm such a lazy bugger I still haven't written up a report yet, but this is one from Greg who was the organiser. The Swiss tour is contained in the Tour 2014 Unseen Britain supplement I think. I can't remember what issue of RIDE that was I'm afraid. We took 8 days. Set off early Friday and arrived back about 7pm on the following Saturday This gave us two clear days in Switzerland to do the figure of eight over the mountain passes and the reverse the next day. As it happened we were rained off for one of the days. So you'd just be able to do it with a week off work.
Just totting up costs for the trip. Completed just under 2200 miles with fuel for the trip costing just under £300. The bike mpg ranged between 46 and 51 but interestingly UK fill ups achieved over 50 but European fill ups no more than 48 mpg. Probably something to do with slightly higher average speeds or the type of the roads I suppose. However I wonder if it had anything to do with the quality of the fuel? Anyone else noticed it?
Probably to do with their fuel being mostly E10 (10% ethanol) compared to our 5%, lower calorific value and all that?
