Maybe if you're keen to get out of a contract or feel aggrieved that they've not kept up their end of the deal or could be working harder yes. Don't get me wrong. I understand that in the normal workplace you tow the line but sport is very different. Its all in the public eye and theres enormous pressure on the individual to perform. The riders are the spokes people for the team and are not PR professionals so its not a suprise some are better at keeping things under wraps than others. They pay Cal a lot of money because he's a fast rider and they want their bikes up the front of the pack....you'd think that they would be investing in the factory and development too and maybe Iannoni is significantly cheaper than Cal and that will free up some money.
Im also going to assume that with an all Italian team, communication should be easier...well technically anyway
In business you usually keep your complaints behind closed doors. The public face is a carefully managed persona, something that Cal struggled with. Given this, his lack of results, poor luck and being out classed by Dovi and Iannone can you blame the management for swinging the axe? Don't piss in the pond you're drinking from.
I can see Cal's point of view. Ducati are very much "jam tomorrow" whereas LCR are more "jam today". He's getting on in racing terms and if Ducati didn't produce next year (and so far, one assumes there is nothing much to test, so it's a real leap of faith to think they will) then he'd have lost yet another season and he'd be over the hill, seeing as there is no shortage of younger talent. It could also be that voicing discontent is a come-on to other teams to sign him, rather than saying "I'm blissfully happy at Ducati - my future is here". It's also fairly obvious that he wanted a factory ride and the money that came with it. And who could blame him for that? He probably hasn't had many big-buck earning years in his career. Ducati were the only option here. He didn't choose to leave Tech 3. So I have nothing much against the bloke, but I still suspect that if he wanted to sign for another team, feelers would be put out under the radar. There isn't much point saying to the press that you are dissatisfied unless you want to sour your working relationship for the next few months.
I don't think Ducati swung the axe, or they wouldn't have made such a big thing of his staying with them at WDW. If he was surplus to requirements, they would have told him beforehand. I'll bet it was Cal's decision for the reasons outlined above.
Gotta love Matt Oxley. If thats what its like, Cal's better off out of it The problem at Ducati - MotoGP - Motor Sport Magazine
yep im up for that but it wont happen for a few years don't think Honda will allow him to develop the ducati, or probably just fill it with fuel take it off cal and put it on the podium, I mean dovi has hasn't he ?
I am a crutchlow fan but I know that the first thing he will do when he goes there is moan that he is too big for the bike... And that it's built around Marquez and Danny
Ducati probably suggested that Cal should go before he was pushed. That looks so much better on the CV!
good move for him he will get results like he did on tech 3 never going to win a race unless you are on repsol honda or a works Yamaha and marquez has a day off ..best Brit rider by miles is Leon Camier if he had a decent ride he would be competitive he needs a break
scott readings better than camier in imo , so is bradders, all better than crutchless, the slowest ducati rider, and so what he hasn't got the new parts hed only whinge anyway, braddles better as well, cruthchless will do nothing next year,
If smith is better then why have his results not matched Crutchlows, crutch has 6 podiums and 2 poles on the tech 3 and obviously none on the Ducati, Smith has well ermmm no podiums and a highest finish of 5th. Pretty sure when Cal was on the Yamaha most of us were behind him and wanted him to do well! Hopefully Redding gets Alvaros bike and we have a few brits in podium contention next year.
I think Cal has had his best while he was at Tech 3. It's going to take time before he gets his confidence back, and even then I can't see him being up there with the aliens. Too many younger, hungrier and more talented riders in the pack.
different races different scenarios , 82 bob and its the whole package ,, to me crutchless is a two faced rat, and I bet theres plenty in the moto gp paddock thinking the same , unlike hewin and ryder blowing smoke up his arse , laughing hes the slowest ducati rider but the only one with a hrc bike, totally wrong, what he done, a man with NO principals, and I for one will laugh my tit off when it goes wrong for him nxt year ,
Well jimmy i believe you're going to be wrong, i hope for the sake of the British fans you're wrong and i hope for Crutchlows sake you're wrong! I agree he shouldn't of been mouthing off like he has but i would rather see somebody have the balls to speak his mind than be a corporate puppet. Remember hes an ex supersport champion WSBK winner and motgp podium contender so on the right package he should do well again. If Brad keeps his ride and Redding gets his move we could see the brits in the top 6 at a few races next year.....
i remember an aggressive simonchelli do good things on a honda i can see cal doing the same and i bet he will be in front of the tech 3 yams more often than not , that honda is a massive step up in class to the ducati , rossi didn't go back to the yam because the ducati was going to be a great bike he knew it was shocking and it still is dovi is over achieving on it
Seriously mate, stand in front of a mirror and read your post out loud to yourself. That rant is the kind of thing you expect to hear in a primary school playground. You don't like Crutchlow, we hear you, now stop the childish name-calling.
I can't say I'm a big fan of Cal, but I think you're all underestimating him. He's got the cojones to try anything, and if he's on a halway decent bike I reckon he could be right up there with Rossi and Pedrosa, if not Lorenzo or Marquez. And remember, Pedrosa can't keep that seat forever; if crutchlow does a good job...
