You may or may not know, a Canadian Lancaster has just ( 90 mins ago*) set off from Canada to fly in four stages across to the UK, and then is booked to perform with the UK Lancaster at a few air shows in August/Early september. *(Albeit 24 hours late as No2 engine refused to start) The Dawlish airshow is one at which it/they is/are booked to appear and i was planning on riding down ( from Somerset) to watch that. Does anyone know if there is a good place to watch the show from, bearing in mind on a bike one can get to some of the smaller places for a good view? Is anyone else thinking of going?
Its landing at Kenley too. My wife told me as we were going to pop along. If i remember i will ask wifey the date and post it here.
not sure about it landing.... but here you go - i have saved you directing your wife to google for you and her telling you to sling your hook - everyones a winner. Announcements - RAFA Kenley & Caterham
Wifey fibbing. Thought it wouldnt be landing myself as the airfield is disused but she was all adam ant about it. Dirk wears white sox my arse. Still going to go. I love this sort of stuff. Its only a short walk for me.
RAF left in 1974 i believe ( last hangar destroyed in fire in '78 ) so i assumed you were extracting the ureic.... Presume your pencilled in for the Dawlish run? - only be a couple of hours run, with your cyber ceramic coated ex - horsts...
The UK Lancaster normally does the Castle Howard Proms with a Spitfire - will there be two this year!!!???!!! :Wideyed:
culture, sniff, me? only kultur i see is on the cheese in me fridge. more accurately, flying schedule for sat 16th is for eastbourne ( 2 lancs), head corn (2 lancs) and shuttle worth (1 lanc)- no mention of castle howard proms.
there are a few shows with the 2 lancasters and 1 show with 3, the 3rd only able to do taxiing runs currently - tickets to this show already sold out
The Canadian Lanc is just flying down the East coast of the UK - just cleared N York moors- due to land at Coningsby at around 1330, with an escort of bbmf, and red arrows.
