Ceramic coating is way preferable to wrapping as the wrapping if not done properly can cause hot spots in the exhaust at race temperatures. The biggest reason for ceramic coating in racing is the undertbody thermal management which can cause bodywork to burn especially if you're running a thin sliver of carbon only 5mm above it. The other nerdtastic thing about inconel is that the coefficient of thermal expansion is negligible at temperatures sub 1000 degrees. You can always spot inconel fabbies as they all have arms like popeye as the stuff is so tough, and as a bonus can weld to stainless where necessary. So envious of this build - well done!
Hey Sev - thank you for the info. My friend had inconel system on his Desmosedici and the heat goes real quick. Impressive.
You Not Fancy Going to Oulton Park BSB on the 8-10th Mate, Be nice to put a Face to The Guy who is Having this Really Special Panigale Beast Built
^ wish I could but just got back from Thruxton having watched the 1199RS get first pole - woop woop! Was hard enough getting special pass from the lady to go - going next week would be short of being locked up and the key thrown away....! I'm sure we'll meet though! Plan to have the bike back here doing a few track days!
MR took delivery of genuine Ducati WSBK RS14 Brembo calipers last weekend - going on my bike! Also found out, OZ racing wheels have anti-slip treatment on the rim edges to stop the slick tyres slipping..... just love all these little bits of detail. Can't wait to get the thing back and start to ride her!
They look great, and I get it when you talk about detail. I was thinking of having my calipers 'superfinished' Is this do-able or an absolutely twattish idea?
My pockets certainly aren't deep enough. I just wondered as I'd imagine there is a lot of cash to be made back from selling those bits.
Thats likely to cost a pretty penny, Being carbon throughout. from the Nose cone, panels and seat unit with frame
