Hi All, I have an 2007 1098s tricolore and am thinking about chopping it in for 2008 1098R. I expect the cost to change will be in region of £5k! Is it worth it ? Would love to hear from anyone who has experience of both models. Thanks in advance, John.
An R is an R may be selling mine and might just be interested in a part ex .be sure what you are getting into they are a proper thug in an evening suit , the best bike I have ever had but sadly with another project on the go , you know how it is
Thanks for the replies, a pretty strong go for it by all accounts. I've being making a few enquires and it looks like I was a bit optimistic with the £5k figure, more like £7/8k to get a mint low mileage example! I could keep the S and get another bike for that kinda money (S1000RR for example), Is the R that good ? (was supposed to test ride this wkend but can't make it, hopefully in a week or two). Are these slow sellers, am I right in thinking that the one's in Snells and M&S are there for a year or more ? Anyone know anything about these one's or the others that are for sale at the moment (I'm for Ireland so a bit more difficult to view those in UK, although Millsport have one but it is serious bucks!) Thanks Again, John.
Often they are on sale or return. Specialist bike remember so takes a particular buyer 1098 tric should be worth good money tho
Bigboot,Im not a dealer so can't hold out for ages if I want to sell a bike the M&S one's been in for nearly 3 years its very tidy but Im told it has't sold because of the milage [16000] The R's on ebay are all crazy money in my opinion you may just get a pleasant surprise if you get in touch Think long and hard here ,the insurance is a lot more but otherwise maintenance would be the same as your tric. As Bradders said takes a special buyer, as far as I'm concerned been there done that and time to move on, planning to go racing classic superbikes next year and have almost stopped riding on the roads Good luck with your dilemma and send me a contact in a pm if you are serious
PM sent to ian899. Btw, the additional premium on my insurance is € 65.00 ! (I'll double check / confirm this with them before I pull the trigger tho', just to be sure). Next step is to take one for a spin & see if they live up to the hype! Thanks, John.
The difference is the same as 'chalk & cheese'. 1098R has the 1198cc engine, you should notice the extra 100cc relatively easily.
