I have to justify mine every time i want to change or get another, normally over a period of time, and if its not being used its 'just sell it' if I'm using it its 'are you going out again?!' And every time I crash its 'just stop this nonsense, you cant do it' How do I justify it? Buy it...swmbo is gonna shout anyway and if I go the whole hog I get a week of piece thrown in
I've got 4 road bikes and my justification is that I love buying, owning and riding them, what's wrong with that? And all SWMBO does is encourage me to buy more when she sees one she likes, happy days!
I was told "Sell it you dont use it often enough!" My answer was "you'll go before the bike!".... I'm happily single now, bike is in the garage.....lol
I've owned my Multi for a little over a year now and don't think I have done 1000 miles yet. It is just a play thing when I fancy. My justification? If my wife can spend 40k on a Merc, I am having a Multi that I can look at!
my ex partner once said its me or the bike as I was on the way to look at a bike ......still got the bike the main problem was justifying having kids and getting married the bikes didn't take well to the news and held a protest :Hilarious:
I have two cars and two bikes......and I commute by train. I'm never challenged to justify these as my wife knows that they're worth more to me than the cash value. In fact she told me to buy both of the bikes (the Honda because she was fed up of hearing my moans every time my VFR800 broke down and the 851 because she knew I really wanted a 90s square headlight Ducati). She's got into the bikes and cars as she benefits from the social scenes and many of her best friends now are the partners of my bike/car mates, so it pays to involve the other half. Admittedly I'm into older stuff so the financials make more sense as they're not depreciating. I did get told off for spending too much time in the garage earlier this year though, when a repair job took massively longer than expected and she thought I should be spending more time with our newborn daughter.......
Having spent too much over the years on cars, aeroplanes and bikes... you can't take it with you so might as well have fun while you can.
Like Char, helps the other half rides as well. Occasionally he makes reference to me having more than him but it isn't a problem. If it was I'd probably buy another.
How do you justify owning a bike, first off I'd ask justify it to who? If it's to myself I just say I want it and oddly enough I agree. If it's to big mouth I mean my Mrs; I'll tell her that I want a new toy, and I generally get her agreement if I promise to remove the duct tape from her over sized gob!!
Got an rsv4 factory and a hyper 1100evo....just bought a project enduro / supermoto conversion.... I'm gonna have trouble holding on to it... But that's the plan...
I love motorbikes so providing I can afford them I have them. Ownership of an object you desire is part of the satisfaction but that does not only apply to bikes......
