I bought my 2012 S Touring a few weeks ago and have just got around to trying the heated grips. Once the engine is on the ignition button controls them doesn't it? I tried pressing it a few times today and holding it too but no joy. Am I being dumb or does my bike not have them??
I thought they did all have them and yes the ignition button does control them through a menu / dialog on the little round lcd display. What happens on that display when you press the button when the engine is running ?
They are not standard on any Mutley, if you are pressing the starter and the "min" "med" "max" doesn't come up then you don't have them mate
Heated grips are standard equipment on a 2012 S Touring along with the centre stand. Once the engine is running, pressing the starter button and holding it down should activate the heated grips. You need to establish that there are wires coming from the grips because if there are not, a previous owner will have removed them. Several Multi owners on here have experienced problems with them so if you do a search you might find out some information. Andy
Mine has panniers and centre stand and is registered as an S Touring. Carbon front mud guard but no other carbon bits. Will check the grip wires tomorrow.
They are standard on the touring S models from 2010, I know coz that's the model I have and they absolutely function as suggested on the starter button whilst the engine is running. So assuming you do have the MTS and not the Sport, then clearly something is amiss with yours.... If they don't work as indeed they should, then I would go back to the seller and ask them what the issue is, because selling the bike as an MTS is simply not right and requires some form of redress. I appreciate that his represents hassle, however, in this situation 'caveat emptor' (buyer beware) isn't really appropriate, so!!
2011 Sport Touring has heated grips, main stand and side panniers as standard. Top box an optional extra.
They do need to have been enabled-perhaps somehow they've become "disabled'? Dealer can do it in a few minutes with a laptop.
I have the 2012 S Touring and heated grips were standard fitment. You need to hold the button in for a few seconds, not just a press and release. Does that help?
