Hi, What security devices do you guys recommend? Are either the Ducati alarm or satellite tracker effective/worth the money? I have seen Bike Trac has favourable comments on here, I have looked at their site, seen the subscription fees but I have not managed to find anything on costs for the unit itself. Is it difficult to fit or is it a dealer only job? I have been using a Xena X14 disc alarm when I am out and about but getting a bit paranoid given my new bikes price and desire ability! Any advice would be very much appreciated. Cheers
I would think a visible deterrent along with a tracker. at home a house alarm linked to garage with an auto dialler if your not home. your guarding agains the average scroat plus mr professional c/w big van.
i wouldn't bother.........bike should either be underneath you or locked up securely in a secure garage.
At home no problem, when out, say touring France, Spain, UK south west @ hotels B&B's etc garage is not always possible............
Be OK with one of those holster thingys they use when on horseback.........just make sure it has a 24" barrel (minimum length)
Just had a bike trac fitted to mine, £300 fitted, and then there is a subscription on top. Kinda makes sense for me as I save £300 on the insurance cost this year, probably a similar amount next year and by that point it's paid for itself. Another bonus was the insurance company gave me protected no claims on the 2 years I have (which I didn't think was possible).
£300 discount on your insurance!!! damn, how high is your insurance then. I was quoted a £70 discount to my premium if i fitted Bike Trac to my Multi.
Aye, til it gets nicked. Trust me your premiums will rocket after your bike's nicked. I know from bitter experience. IMO concealment is the first line of defence (ie locked in a garage). Then I'd say a whackin great chain and ground anchor. Alarmed garage and Bull Mastiff. Of course practicalities come into all this.... If leaving outside overnight don't keep using the same spot and have some sort of phyical tie down (chain, cable).
My approach is to ensure that the bike looks scruffy/filthy - works better than any other type of defence!
