  3. I dont understand some people. I would only ever buy a 100% bog standard Ducati. It would have to be something pretty special to make me deviate from that 1st Law of Ducati Buying. It isnt. It might be a fair price, i don't know. But if i was looking for a 999 that wouldnt be it.

  4. Yeh,Bog standard to a point...termi's and open clutch cover excepted...;)

  5. Base model standard with the odd mod, no R bodywork, no R Engine, No R Forks. Headlight could be unless he's sprayed it ;-)
Non standard paint on frame and bodywork
12K + miles showing, no mention of history - Circa £3.5K IMO

  6. 3.5K is being generous. .i think it's priced very optimistically. ...

  7. Full Termi system and Ohlins.....

Of course it is, my dear...

  8. It doesn't have a full Termi System and it doesn't have Ohlins?

  9. I just bought a fairly standard 'non-standard' factory ordered 996 bip. Is that wrong?

Fairly standard because the previous owner had just spent over £1100 having a Surflex Slipper fitted. Is that wrong?

'non-standard' factory ordered because it was ordered with factory fit options.

The standard rear Showa shock has suffered badly from corrosion, so I am going to replace it with an Ohlins unit. Is that wrong as well?

To me this only makes sense, not that I'm making it unappealing.

  10. But I bet you never paid twice what it was worth ;)

  11. @AlfG see my 3rd sentence. :p

  12. I was being ironic.

  13. Now that I would have spotted if it didn't look like you were answering the post above you ;)
    Soz Rickyonic...

  14. I did.

My point is that it's not standard, and wasn't even standard the day it left the factory. It's not exactly special either (other than being a Ducati of course), but you would consider it not worthy.

    Why?

Only curious to understand the first law of Ducati buying.

  15. I'd want a 'blank' canvas for myself. Plus any mods made I want to understand all the details. Besides other peoples mods aren't necessary the ones I'd choose myself. Plus it will be cheaper. Probably. I'd just prefer a less messed about with bike. Original with full DSH.

Of course if I could afford a fully corse tricked out 916 racing I'd still buy it. As long as it was right. However I can't. So 2nd Law dictates - make sure 100% that its an ok bike. Thus OEM Full DSH.

Everyone else has their own priorities.

  16. 1st law get a bike you like no matter the mods.
2nd law pay what you think is fair price for bike mentioned in 1st law.

  17. Or R frame which is pretty significant lol

  18. Nice big fat fag bands, plus wavey discs, wooooo

  19. And it's an R Frame because? If it is it has had all the R specific bits cut off and base spec ones welded on, very strange ;)
and quit with that lol business, it's silly... especially when you are wrong
