  2. Well - it looks like there is going to be another change of plans courtesy of the sister-in-law and her family which means that I probably will be able to make this trip after all.

Damn good job I didn't sell or cancel my hotel booking eh?

I will take a look at the Chunnel, book myself a crossing and see how I am going to get there in time to meet you guys. I am working in London the day before so will have to get home to Somerset and do some of the journey late on Thursday night, stay over somewhere and complete the run down to Folkestone on Friday morning. Or maybe I will stick the bike in the van, take it with me to work in London and leave it in Folkestone. Mmmmm - options, options, options.

  3. Nice one Dave...! Hopefully the Chunnel will pose no problems for you?

  4. No problemo - all booked. I'll let you know how I plan to get to Folkestone :)

  5. Bradders - you up for a coffee one eve this week?

  6. Likely I am away most of the week, may be able to do something tomorrow on my way home from Bristol or possibly Thursday night..depends how my week goes!

  7. Nice one - just give me a shout when you know.
(I'm away this week from Friday till Wednesday)

  8. So I've looked at my calendar and the logistics of it all ... and the best thing for me to do would be to drive my van with my bike in the back on Thursday evening from Somerset to somewhere en-route where I can stay the night, leave the van there over the weekend and ride the bike to Folkestone on Friday morning. Wayne has kindly offered his place provided his Mrs doesn't have relatives coming, so that might work (thanks Wayne). Failing that I'm sure I'll be able to sort something else - even if it is a hotel.

  9. Have you got on a similar crossing @Dave ? If not, drive over and keep the bike in the back, save the tyres ;)

  10. I am on the same crossing as you - there and back

  13. Pete sent me a copy of the route which I've scanned and can email it if anyone wants?

  14. Yes please Wayne. I will PM you my email address :)

  15. I've 'shared' the maps via Google Drive and included everyone - let me know if you have problems viewing/printing them and I'll email directly?

  16. Yes, exactly right (except for the last 2 Km going down into Cochem). Thanks, most helpful.

The first 180 miles (from Calais to Huy) is on motorways. The remaining 130 miles is on interesting non-motorway roads - but we still have the option of using motorways after all for part of it, e.g. if we have been delayed. A similar idea applies to the route back via Prum and Bastogne.
