  1. Buy genuine ducati ones for about £500 brand new from dealers, need painted though.

  2. Thought the nose come alone is £400...

  3. They look nice but if you have an off they undress them self's in about 2 seconds flat. My Chinese set exploded into a million pieces on impact leaving no protection for the expensive bits underneath as it did it's next few bounces..... never again for me! Good track fairing every time now.

  4. Are you referring to my post?, if so im not sure what you are looking at.
Ducati supply a full set, including tail, plugs for electrics for around £500 for the panigale. They are even listed in the catalogue. If I was a betting man I would bet that they are the same as tho ones supplied on the bike from new, just not painted. The kit also comes with fake black headlight and tail light.
I just bought a set and they are being painted at the moment.

    Davy.

  5. I have some Chinese track fairings from a guy called Mr Yes off ebay
If you were at the ducati Silverstone day I was there running number 6 in inters on a 748
not crashed in them but tbh they seem very good to me and would be surprised if they weren't very robust in the event of an off

  6. I have seen the Chinese fairings as fitted on a 996 and up close they look pretty decent. I asked what they were like to fit and was told that whilst not perfect it only took a bit of tweaking.

I have also been informed that other than the above they do not age well and the plastic becomes embrittled as time goes by, heat being one of the problems that cause them to harden, and this has been mentioned on the old Ductai forum where some had the exact problem.

The very first 916's used to suffer from this problem due to poor plastic quality which they later changed and I remember seeing one of my own fairings slide off a table once only to see it totally disintegrate into enough pieces to make repair impossible.

With the 748 series bikes there is also no bellypan in the kit, which for me, If I were contemplating a trackday I would be a bit wary of.

I had a main bearing go on my 748R which caused the side casing to start leaking oil and had it not been for the bellypan the oil would have been on my tyre and I might have been off. I think you can imagine the rest, engine rebuild and bike repair due to crash damage, not good.

  7. Yep I know from old the original Ducati plastics, although feeling heavy and well made, actually broke like achocolate Easter egg and have no friction or flexibility in them. Suggest the chinese ones wood be the same

But for the money, i've never seen a bad set and what doesn't break when you chuck it down the road?! Lol

  8. For interest these were the fairings that used red plastic in them, even the 748 SP's had them only the red plastic was painted yellow, they stopped in about 1997/8 and went on to use the more familiar white plastic which is more flexible, ages better and is a lot easier to plastic weld.

  9. Most of the Chinese fairings on ebay come out of the same factory the variation in price depends on who's selling them and there are quite a few. From my experience fitting them to my 1098, the paint job was actually pretty good quality although they don't use Ducati red it's more of an orangey colour which is ok unless you put it next to the OEM red tank then it looks shit. The main difference though is the fitment. The OEM fairings are quite flexible and can be manipulated into place when fitting them where as the Chinese ones are very rigid and brittle and you end up breaking the tabs and fixings and end up making adjustments. I would imagine fitting non standard side panels to a Panigale would be a nightmare as the originals are fiddly enough. Personally I wouldn't buy anymore Chinese fairings but buy the track fairings from Ducati as mentioned above, or source some second hand used OEM ones of ebay.

  10. I've just fitted a set of chinese fairings to my 748.
They fitted no problem. the nose cone was the only fiddly part. For the price they are very good value. The fairings even came with heat reflective foam/foil on the insides.
I did a wee bit of research though as it looks like there are good and not so good chinese replica fairings.

  11. As per the post above, I was quoted around £500 for a full set of unpainted Ducati fairings from the factory for a Panigale 1199 including nose cone, etc. I was quite surprised at the price, perhaps because Ducati prefer not to have their bikes dressed in cheap chinese stuff so they make it themselves?

  12. Sounds good to me. From reading these posts I'll definitely go for Ducati fairings and have them painted.
