899 1199 Swinger On 899 ??

  1. hi,

    has anyone put a single sided rear end from an 1199 onto an 899??

    is it even possible??

    If the swingarms mounting setup is the same as the 1199 one, then I can't see why It wouldn't be a near straight swop.

  4. I think Swingers are probably best seen on a 899's rather than 1199's.

  6. that's all i wanted to know, just out of curiosity. I have no desire(or funds) to own a Panigale of any size...

  9. so technically there's no reason to do it then if it'll just make the 899 heavier....how about putting the 899 swingarm on the 1199 to make it even lighter??

    bet no ones done that:eek:

  10. Hmm. Lighter and with a shorter wheelbase. That should make the 1199 the perfect road bike!

  13. I reckon the 1199 would spend too much of it's time pointing at the sky if it had the shorter swing arm. It already does it through most of the gears when you're enthusiastic but it's a nice balance.

  14. Exactly. These things are designed by people MUCH cleverer than (most of) us. I'm 100% certain the DSSA isnt just for cost but also for handling. The single sided might look nice but I have a feeling the 899 would be a worse bike for having it on there....and visa versa.

  17. For the cost of changing the 'swing arm', why not just upgrade to an 1199..

  18. I for one have never checked out my swingarm while riding. I fail to see the attraction.

  19. Maybe the owner doesn't need all the extra power of the 1199 for willy waving but prefers the asthetics of the single swinger?
