1199 Has Newer 1199 Got Even More Plastic

  1. Has my 2014 got even more plastic than others of say a earlier plate? I seem to have covers on engine , and a few other bits. Can these just be took off? As I think I prefer it without?

  2. Yes and yes

  3. There is a cover over the engine just near the inside of the Right Knee. Some Jerk in the US burnt himself wearing shorts whilst riding an 1199R so Ducati had to put a cover it. I think you can remove by a few bolts though.

  4. It's like they have gone plastic mad. Along with the exhaust shield too.

Yes, I pull the rear Cyl' covers off + the sprocket cover & rear sprocket guard, I have to do something with the rear carbon exh' cover it's hideous.

  6. Just had a quick look. Looks like the plastic covers are behind the subframe? Assumed it was gonna be easy job but maybe not.

  7. I just pulled them out, I did not care if I damaged the plastic covers, clutch side is easy just unbolt rear brake reservoir for clearance, shock side I pulled cover loose then had to cut cover with tinsnips to remove it, course if you want to do it the hard way, remove seat sub frame. I cannot believe there is any future historic value in plastic Cyl' covers hence the cut route

  8. Glad I bought the 2012 Model then, with a 3ed year warranty option. It doesn't have all the plastic rubbish garnished upon it. :) :upyeah: :)

  9. Nothing that tinsnips can't resolve, besides the 14 have upgraded starter gear drive, + the R comes with steering angle inserts, so it's all swings & roundabouts

  10. Swings and roundabouts. More like plastic and more plastic.

  11. thought i would take a look at removing engine covers as does look better on bikes i have seen without
    was literally a 10min job
just took off the seat and the bracket at bottom of tank
removed the trim from around the ignition, i also undid the 2 bolts at the top of the tank under this trim, but not sure if was necessary tho
then just lifted the bottom of the tank and propped it up, it doesnt need to be completely removed, just the 2 cables disconnected
then undid the 2 bolts on each piece of trim and removed them
    that is it

  12. lmfao, typical 'mericun  If it doesnt suit them they sue the world...what a pratt.

Not mad about that exhaust shield under the seat, takes away from the bike.

  13. Yep get rid of the lot it looks hideous!!! I got riders to ditch all mine as part of the PDI.

They make a work of art with the exhaust curve then cover it in plastic, same with the engine casings. I am sure that with it all removed it must run cooler as opposed to trapping all the heat under covers.
