Just wondering if anybody has thought of trying to modify a 1098 headlight and add an audi/panigale style light or is it best to leave the thing of beauty the way Ducati intended ?????????????????
Agree crack on. Love my 1098s but never had a bike with such poor lights. Sorry tell a lie I had a Tiger cub but it is probably a close run thing and on reflection I think the cub takes it. Come back with a how to do it thread please and costs and where you went wrong and can you pop round and do mine when you have it sorted out. Please forgot my manners. Regards Steve
Hi Danny I'd be interested to see how you, or anybody gets on taking that on. Would imagine it would be expensive and probably involve a bit of fabrication too. I just bunged in HIDs to mine, not strictly legal I suppose, but it looks pretty neat, gives me loads of light and does not seem to annoy other road users (well I don't get flashed at by oncoming traffic). Cheap, easy and lazy that's me. Love to see how the Panigale system could be pushed into a 1098 all the same John
You guys have never had an ST2!!!!!! 1 canlde watt at best when they actually worked....next to that my 848 seems to have great lights...although the Blade I had would light up a small town
Just get a line of those small led lights and attach under/above the headlights then add power. People do it on mirrors etc so cant see it being that hard nor a change for ever mod
Don't know about everyone else but I think the 'fairy lights' look shite, would actually put me off buying a car/bike if it had them...
I thought OP was referring to full LED set up not the "fairy lights" strip. Reading again I think I was wrong. If it was just an LED strip there are quite a few of these LED strip things on the market and they could be probably be fitted below the lamp modules at the air intakes. Agree with Bradders it wouldn't cost very much to do that. I also agree with Duke that IMHO its sorta tacky, not my taste. Mind my opinion is worth nout, I'm probably on the Fashion Police's most wanted list. John
Mmm, not sure. They standard lights are woefully dim but hacking away at that beautiful nose fairing to fit them ?
I had HID on my old 848 evo... Stashed the blast as below; Gotham Cycle's Prolumen 55w HID Kit Install - Detailed Pics - ducati.org forum | the home for ducati owners and enthusiasts Don't think I'd ride a bike without one of these badboys now...The effect on motorists is palpable...
H11 are the standard so that's what you want bulb wise. On mine I selected a color temp of 6000 K I wouldn't go higher on 55W, they get more blue the higher the temp and less light. I believe 4300 k is optimal white. Fujack if you want some more info I believe I have some docs from old threads showing what needs done. You'll also need to ask if you want HID on one or both beams John
Aye the original bulbs in the 848, 1098 and 1198 are Halogens designation H11. You want to buy an HID kit that replaces the H11 bulbs with the equivalent of the H11s there are 2 one for Lo beam and one for Hi beam. The other choices are Power usually 55W or 35W most go for 55W. Color temperature, the higher the temp the bluer the light. Its got nothing to do with heat just how blue you want the beam. https://www.ddmtuning.com/support/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=1&pcid=0&nav=0 Download the bulb guide and the color temp chart to get an idea of what its about Then you need to decide do you want the HID on Lo only or Lo and Hi. Some keep the Hi beam a Halogen as HIDs take a few seconds to achieve full brightness. I have both Hi and Lo replaced as when you switch onto Hi the Lo stays on so you are never left in the dark. The light on mine comes on right away but takes a couple of seconds to achieve full brightness, the flash even works. Ultimately decision is down to you. Biggest PIA is just hiding the addtional boxes you need to get HID to work John
