Based on advice from 1976dc and mid-way pricing (between relatively cheap R&G and pricey DP) I ordered an Evotech tail tidy. Paid £149 incl postage before realising Conquest Carbon offer 10% on here :Meh: Slightly underwhelmed when package arrived, I'd basically paid £150 for a bag of bolts and dome bent metal but as I started the assembly I started to appreciate its decent quality and fits really well. Took me about an hour to do, following online instructions. Make sure you have an extra long 5mm Allen key before you start - makes it much easier. Only fiddly bits are squeezing indicator rubbers into aperture (lube-up guys n gals) and the cutting and joining of the numberplate light wires. I'd also recommend an additional small adhesive reflector - kit comes with one and a bracket but it's a little big for my taste. Went for an 8x6" plate (std is 9x7) and job done. Lovely bit of kit and well recommended. Whilst fettling I also put the stock screen back on. Top tip is to use tape or adhesive to hold bottom 2 rubberised nuts in place. And don't disturb mirror wiring/rubbers if you can help it, massive faff if you do ! Then final job was to collect and fit my 899 seat to replace stock 1199 (2013) one. Massive improvement - slightly higher at front and grip pier material. Cost £120 but couldn't get a used one in time (big ride out this weekend). Expensive week but that's the way it is. Also nice to get the trip odo into triple figures before refuelling - never managed that on my old 1098. Happy camper so far.
In my world of OCD I hate the way shit splatters up on the underside of the tail and I have to clean it off after every ride!
Don't blame me. Got caught last weekend in bad weather for the first time on the bike. Back of the bike looked like I'd been greenlaning. Another +1 for the evo tech - easier to clean.
At the risk of starting a dispute, as good as the evotech is I think the Bruudt tail tidy is better, not that I'm bias or anything.
Yes agree its awful. Can't afford to spring for a CF one right now so either cut-down or remove completely. Need to check out others' bikes
+1 for the Bruudt too. Excellent fit , quality, cheaper, no need to cut any wires, and no need to lube )
Mmmm its down to personal opinion I suppose but looking at the pictures of the Bruudt I'm glad I have the evotech!!! Just remove the heat shield - looks loads better and I am sure you don't ride in shorts like some of our American cousins so you wont burn yourself....
