Could be worse. A mate of mine, A very good rider in N.Z lost his leg from the hip whilst testing tires (unbeknown to him stewards let a kid in an open wheeler formula ford on the track at the same time as him. It run him over at about 150) Anyway he went back to racing but had to bungee cord his prosthetic leg to peg and get help at start line. Kinda makes my lack of height a bit seem a bit trivial really!!!
I don't give a stuff anymore I have 26 inside leg and now 5ft and 1/2 I dismount and move my bike around almost leaning it on my hip.. I got really slagged off for it. But the IAMS bloke said no that's how you should move it. I'd rather look a prat pushing my bike because I loose my footing easily then wreck my paint job and tank . I really don't have the money to shell out at the moment so il stick to getting it around as best as I can without dropping it.
When I'm riding and stop I have both feet on the floor just incase there is a camber Being 5ft 7 worked with the SS And touch wood no issues When getting off and moving around I always leant bike against my hip as I nearly learnt my lesson the hard way in the petrol station at work How embarrassing that would have been
to summarise all of a sudden lack of planning poor obs poor low speed riding skills /balance/adaptation to your own height get the bike lowered and its seat invest in some low speed riding techniques invest in some riding techniques
you can have all the obs in the world, most gravel car parks and bike meets have camber all over the place so sure footing impossible if you only can touch one foot down but like many I make up for mine by not stopping. Simple
I was told that if you are short, always wheel the bike around with both hands on the handlebars and not one hand on the bars and one flat on the seat. Always worked for me with the ZZR1100, Guzzis and other bikes but most of them had a side grab handle which also worked as well. With the SS there is nothing I can reach with the 'spare' hand when wheeling backwards, so I end up with it flat on the seat and hope that my left arm is strong enough to stop the bike leaning the wrong way.
f**kin hell, I didn't realise there we guides to common sense out there! Is short the new black?! Maybe we will too be liberated and accepted as part of society in 200 years
