1200 What Bike Next?

  1. My answer would be none of the above.

They are all pretty different bikes so don't you need to ask yourself what you're looking for from the next bike?
    • S1000R - Too uncomfortable/impractical on long trips - S1000XR may be more suitable but the early shots look a little boring. Worth a test ride though just to see.
    • Diavel - Good poser machine but as otherwise above
    • 1290R - Just duplicates the Multi (and it's not a Ducati!)
    Happy hunting

  2. Fireblade for me. It's what I wanted originally and I keep looking at them which is really annoying as I love the MTS.

  3. I think you would be disappointed if you went to a K1300S in the handling department, it is a big long bike to throw about compared to a MS I went form a K1300R to MS, handling is miles apart in the tighter stuff

  4. The only choice is AndyW 2010 MTS1200S.
It has nearly all the toys you'll ever need.
Just add my Ohlins steering damper, a cjs tune and you get the perfect Mutley.
    And only just run in.
Now if he dropped the price a grand and throws in the Abba stand I'd be down the M4 faster that a rat up a drain pipe.:upyeah:

  5. Been there with the same problem. Went for Diavel because it was different to anything else I have ever ridden. Had the sports things, adventure things, off road thing, touring things.

All three are brill. Just depends on what riding you are mainly going to be doing.

  6. That's the one thing that stops me. Strangely, the other thing I have in mind is a new VFR800...

  7. I had a K1300S for four years, awesome bike and power, only disappointment was luggage. Traded it for a 90th edition RT, did exactly what it was designed for but was extremely bland and kept it for 6000 miles (12months) traded it for a 2014 MTS GT, only done 1200 miles but very happy.

I regret not going from the K1300S to the MTS

  8. Well I took the Diavel for a test today and absolutely loved it, it's bonkers in a way I can't describe, so cool!

Not comfortable for the 2 of us though, which is the main problem, I don't think any of the bikes I am looking at will do what my Multi can do, bloody quick in comfort for 2, however it doesn't set my heart alight like the Diavel or the KTM does! The BMW is now out, I want another twin!

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  10. I value the lives of Britains road users too much to do that! ;)

  11. I'm thinking of having a look at the Yamaha MTS09 Tourer when it comes out.

Obviously not in the same league as a Mutley, but at 1/2 the price it looks like bloody good value for money.

An other one I quite like the look of (and I feel like I'm in confessional now) is the BMW R Nine T.

Probably do the same as I always do though - get the itch to change, try to scratch it with various alternatives, and decide nothing else is as good as the bike I've already got :)

  12. The above sums me up totally. Just been through the shall I sell or keep. Keeping my Multistada until at least next summer.
I have also looked at the BMW R9T and it does look great and although it would be easier to get my leg over, when I sat on one, I found my knees were bent much more as lower seat and higher pegs. There are no demos around so would not buy until I could ride one.
I will be 66 in January so getting near the point where I have to carefully consider my next bike. If I keep the Multi for another year or so I may consider a Boneville, the blue and white 2015 model looks lovely. This is a emotional choice as I could never afford a Boneville in the 60's but the new incarnation is very attractive.
Making that choice would be a big admission that I am not ready to make at the moment, but the day is coming.

  13. Richard apparently there is a huge waiting list too, I sat on one at a show, and the foot pegs seem odd for short people if you put feet down I had to put over the front and bash my shins on them, quite a few people were complaining about them

  14. I've brought a k1300s anniversary, traded in a 2013 multi gt against it, loved to ride the multi, but, hated having it in the garage for so many stupid little things! So far v happy with the bmw
