New to this forum, always interested in others' wisdom. I'm an American stationed in Eastern Europe since 1997. Enjoying my '06 999S though the roads in eastern Ukraine are one continuous bomb crater. Greatest difficulty is lack of parts and sheer vacuum of any knowledgeable mechanic. So ......... everything is DIY Attached is my Duc
Thanks. Currently enduring the "turns over, won't fire" syndrome, probably the fuel pump relay, though it'll take weeks to get the simple part. Hoping its not the pump itself, as I'm not up to doing that much work right now, though with cold weather quickly coming, I'm going to want to get as much seat time as I can. Sigh.
Turning over, won't start is a common affliction for the 749/999. My experiences have found possible causes being poor earthing and Iridium spark plugs. If you have Iridium plugs try increasing the gap. Ideally return to using stock plugs. If you have some jump leads, try running one from the -ve terminal of the battery to a good earth on the engine. If the earth thing works then run a secondary earth lead from the battery to the starter motor bolt (it has 3 but only 1 is visible). It's towards the middle of the engine when looking from the battery side. 749S - Won't start !!! | Ducati Forum
Arizona I can send you a brand new relay if you PM me your address. Might be faster than you waiting to get one from wherever.
Hi Ari It's an early model defo.........swing arm and nose cone are the obvious give-aways. A lovely bike anyway
Thanks Chris, I believe I read your advice about the ground on a previous post that I found on here. Plugs are not Iridium. I do plan to ground it as you advised.
