Another Ebay Shark

  1. About £9.00 from Moto Rapido.

    Or a K&N one for £10

  2. They're just preying on the gullible that think you still can get bargains from eBay. You can't.

  3. Well it's by no means the worst I have seen.

How much are the filters, £10? Also remember that a lot of dealers quote ex vat so in real terms is the cost only £8?

Then they've just lumped in the postage & packaging costs + eBay/paypal fees

It's not that unreasonable, most company's have a flat rate with a courier and depending on the amount of parcels they send per month depends on their rate, you'll probably find dependant on volume you'd still be looking at a cost of between £3.50-£5 and that's a pretty good rate.

Ok if they could be arsed to trundle down to a post office then he may get it cheaper but at what cost do you charge time & effort?

My nearest dealer is either Cornerspeed, Coventry, Lincoln or Sheffield.

Cornerspeed are closest at 21 miles each way plus 30 minutes travel each way, at 42miles round trip and 10p/mile that's £4.10, would I bother knowing the saving of 40p still takes up an hour of my time? Nope.

  4. The listing definitely states the filter is second hand. Why would you buy a second hand oil filter for more than the cost of a new one ? Andy

  5. They have sold 9 used filters then!! at £14.50 not bad.

  6. Hardly a shark.
No such thing as free postage.
ebay began encouraging sellers to offer this as post and packing wasn't subject to their reasonable 10% final sale fee. Lump it in with the sale price disguised as "free" and hey presto more lolly for ebay!

  7. Looks like a listing error - they have used a listing template from their used parts sales by mistake I think...

  8. Used oil filters, black brake fluid...I feel like I'm missing a trick here :(

  9. Doesn't inspire confidence in the seller but then again historically Rides haven't always received the best feedback. Andy

  10. I disagree. Here we have a butter dish from TK Maxx bought for £2.95.

And here we have the 'Ducati' butter dish inspired by the Ducati Corse departments canteen, my toast eating habits and liking for making money from ebay suckers. Yours for just £49.95 + VAT and P&P.

  11. Not had any dealings, but it is easy to make mistakes when listing a few items using templates. Can't comment on Riders myself but I guess people earn their reputations, good or bad...

  12. See, not a shark, but a genius - it's evidently a fine line...

if it had been stuck on straight I might have bought it :D

  13. 'I think you'll find that's part of the character of owning a Ducati butter dish sir'. Also on a cold morning you'll have to make several attempts before you can get the lid off, then it'll have that distinctive Ducati butter dish rattle and after a few washes the paint will start to flake off. But you will be the envy of your fellow butter dish owners who will aspire to be like you from their lesser Japanese butter dishes. :D

  14. will there be a homologation special version? You know, with a carbon handle or something...?

    MICK..

  15. Few months ago, had a mate looking for new front wheel bearing for mv agusta 750 front wheel. Guy on ebay selling them for over £100 a pair, stating special order and 6 week wait, after I investigated further for him and found the part no. Same ones were £10 pair delivered off another ebay seller.
NOW THATS A RIP OFF If ever there was one.

  16. Thieve bay charges you a percentage on postage now so he's kippering himself by offering postage for a start. That's why a lot of proces have gone up as you have to wrap your postage up in your starting price. More people are moving to amazon marketplace which as yet charges 7% flat fee but they don't have the coverage that greedbay have.

Rip off or not though, if people are willing to take it at face value and pay...

  17. I'm more interested in the obviously vintage 916 "SP" salt and pepper shakers. And they got a polished finish.
