Colchester? Definitely not........It wasn't a shithole when I was there, but it is now and they are just making it an even bigger shithole. But here's what is outside my windows right now...... and the same view at night.....
We're you here late 80's early 90's? It did get a touch run down, though they've tarted the place up quite a bit since then.
this is the village i am from. a small weaving village with history going back 1000years renowned for its, piper and weavers cottage. amongst others, slowly but surly getting swallowed up by suberbia.
Ah, Holme Moss. Cycle over there regular.... Oops, I mentioned cycling on this forum..... INCOMING....
I thought there was a lot of smugness in the village I grew up in, Blewbury in south Oxfordshire (once the Tories had gerrymandered the county boundaries - it was Berkshire until then). I still think it's smug and now even richer (as are all the villages around that way). But maybe it was smug because it wasn't Didcot, the town 3 miles away. Didcot is ineffably awful with only the Railway Centre to recommend it. It is so naff it is in the first volume of Crap Towns. Is your hometown in that? We moved from Southend to Brentwood in the 80's, my ex wifes idea. Brentwood was voted the most boring town in UK a few years back but now we have TOWIE:Banghead:.
