Devils Bridge Kirkby Lonsdale.

  1. Did anybody venture to Devils Bridge on Sunday (24thAug)?. I went for a ride up there but on dropping down the hill from the Ingleton direction I saw a police van and a lot of high vis jackets. Was wondering what was going on. They had a purge a year or two back on a bank holiday where they pulled every bike that rode passed and went over them with a fine tooth comb looking for faults. Many got fines and points for things like noisey cans, small plates, tinted visors etc. I just rode past and didn't turn in because in this case points certainly don't make prizes!.

  2. Devils Bridge is not the place to go on bank holiday weekends and suchlike. Plod are always out in force and will pull everyone, like you say, for noisey exhausts, small plates and tinted visors etc.

The only time I go there nowadays is in "off peak" times. And the burgers there are shite anyway.

  3. There is NO noise test that the police, or anyone else for that matter, can do for a motorbike. Because there is NO legal noise limit in law. The only things you can be done for are using an end can with "Not For Road Use" stamped on it, or an end can without a CE mark on it.

  4. Yeah but folk don't buy them
Modifying your exhaust so that it is louder than standard is an offence, and does not require any kind of test to prove. Only an opinion that it is non standard and louder than is standard for that vehicle thus contravening type approval.

  5. Devils bridge, I would rather stop in and do some knitting. The place is full of tossers and Plod are drawn to it like a magnet. If my mates are heading up there, my bike stays put. If you do go, ensure your bike and equipment are 100% legal and be prepared to abide by ALL road laws whilst knobheads are ripping past you in 30mph zones.

  6. Yeah I have to agree with the above comments, I usually go up there at night during the week when it's quiet. On Sunday the sun was shinning, I wasn't working and the missus was out so seemed like a good idea at the time. I was surprised to see some of the worst road manners being committed by other bikers who were the biggest danger to themselves, other riders and motorists. They just rode like idiots regardless of the amount of traffic, over taking on corners cutting other road users up, it's no wonder it all ends in tears. I think in future I'll take my loud cans and small plate out just at night!. I'm not sure about the specific laws on noisy cans but I'm sure it would be breaking some law regarding being a nuisance or disturbing the peace. In the same way that there's no definitive law that's says I can't walk down the street at 3am singing at the top of my voice but I'd still get done for it.

  7. So basically your saying your mates are tossers? oh and the rest who posted here that go there err.....and me? Unfortunately I live on Walney island for me devils is the nearest bike meet place. I go there quite often I don't like it that much but what other choice have I got. I could go the extra 20 miles to Hawes but even there it's just guys from Devils. And you right it is a magnet for the rozzers and the mates VOSA. A few years ago I got checked there and Hawes the week before when I had an R1 small plate scorpion cans and tinted visor I came away with no ticket but my mate on a standard CBR 600RR he got his bike impounded because his rear indicators flashed to slow, he'd just fitted after market LED indicators.

  8. Are black visors enforced these days? If that was my only 'crime' would I be in the poo do we suppose? Although it wouldn't be too tricky a task to stop 1/2 mile away and do a swap I dare say.
