Got Some Upgrades Coming....

  1. Just got back from the U.S. after 2 weeks holiday....I swear every time I go over there I come back feeling like ive robbed the place its so cheap....came back with....

A nice spanky new simpson lid - cost 520 quid, including the carriage to where I was staying and 2 spare black visors, plus a few extras fitted to the helmet at the time of construction....

A second hand Ohlins shock delivered to where I was staying 380 quid all in - which was a steal. Looks brand new...a couple of marks on the very bottom of it but that's it...

An upgraded heavy duty wiring kit to go from the battery to the starter. Once fitted it should fire then engine in half a turn or something stupid like that....cost 65 quid delivered.

Surprising walking back through customs I never got looked at carrying a shock, crash helmet and a load of copper cabling....ironically my brother-in-law's case which was full of my kid's lego did get broken into by the TSA and they left a nice little note saying they did...what a polite bunch.

Ive never had the shock out of it (never had to) and never had to mess with the ignition ever, so, if anyones interested then ill post some photo's if not then I wont...

  2. It might be a little while before I get something done as a friend of mine dropped of some kitchen units and work top for my garage which I really think I need to fit first to get some more space....

  3. Nice that's a good idea. I'm off to florida next year I may have to do the same. Are you going to be selling your sachs shock?

  4. I didn't even consider selling it as I expect no one would want it....

  5. I was considering getting one off a 1100, they better than the 796 one I think. I don't really want to fork out for an ohlins or wilburs bit I'm still undecided. The rear is much better on my bike since I fitted the height adjustment bar.

  6. Well, when it comes off youre welcome to it....

  7. Excellent let me know and I'll see what I can sort out.

  8. Well, the shock is out, took longer than I thought but ive one major set back.....while removing the lower part of the shock the bolt, fell out and down in to the swing arm.....im assuming that if I take the rear hub out it should fall out....problem there is the rear left hand bolt that holds the sprocket carrier is on there....tried a breaker bar with a scaffold bar hanging off of that but nothing....im assuming once I get the rear sprocket off that's the case....

  9. photos later....

  10. Ooh nasty.

Not sure if this PDF will help I know you don't like manuals

  12. Yeh.... Talk about bad design..... I,m assuming once the hub is out i can get to the bolt.? Can anyone confirm?

Just finished fitting the heavy duty starter kit as well....

There's whats got to go in....Ohlins, HID light and Motolectric heavy duty lines from the battery to the engine and starter...

Started with the HID and kinda gave up - couldn't get the Relay to work correctly - did speak to the lad that flogged it to me who gave me some pointers - tried all those and still couldn't get it working....waiting for a replacement loom for the HID....and yes its a pain in the arse to fit...

Moving swiftly on to the shock.....hang the bike up first - then its pretty straight forward after that - AS LONG AS YOU DONT DROP THE BOLT DOWN INSIDE THE SWING ARM!!!! as I say its pretty badly designed - youd have thought they would assume something like that could happen...which it did....bought one of those little bendy magnety things off the bay today - see if that fishes it out...

    Shock fitted...

Havent got any pics of the heavy duty starter lines because theres not that much to see apart from the fact that theyre twice as thick as the old lines....

  14. Well - its out now - still want it?

  15. you've really gone to town there...nice... it doesn't seem like trivial work, replacing wiring looms and the like... commited!

and back luck on the bolt... I used to have (like 30 years ago) a CG125 that i was constantly taking the top end off for some reason or another...and on a couple of occasions dropped something into the crankcase, 20 min job suddenly becomes a 12 hour job (12 hours when you only have a hammer and a pair of molegrips :) )...dammit.

let us know if you get that HID working.. would the same kit fit on the 821 do you happen to know?

  16. If yours is a H4 bulb then yes....but the bloke I got them from on ebay makes them for loads of bikes - as I say I got a kit from him for the RSV4 and that worked at treat.....

TBH honest if the magnet doesn't work then I may just spray a bit of expanding foam down there....then it wont happen again!

The big job will be when the motor has to come out - I expect it will one day for what ever reason, then itll be getting coated the same way as my supermoto....(currently being built at the moment....)

  17. what are those sidelight bulbs like? Any good?

  18. Yeah - very good - got them off of ebay - there were about 3 quid each...
