Brighton Speed Trials

  1. Brighton & Hove Motor Club

I'll be going this year, if we have a group of the regular Box Hill scene, it makes sense to join up and travel and park together. Ideally, it means a relatively early start to find a spot for the bikes and spectate. I'd be up for paying for the paddock pass and get a better view and be in on things more.

It's a couple of weekends away but with some of us away on vacations, we need to organise soonish as being a Saturday, no point in leaving it late on the weekend itself.

It's an 08:00 open time and gets busy from 11:00 according to the website. I'd prefer to get there early, have breakfast local and enjoy the day with the bike parked somewhere safe and OK.

  2. I prefer Sunday, for the Ace cafe reunion. I normally go.

Top tip: Study the road maps, and plot a route into the seafront area avoiding the huge cues of traffic which always occur because everyone uses the main roads into Brighton!
No fun being stuck in traffic overheating for an hour.

Even better is to go by car which I always do, find a parking place parallel to the seafront and walk a few yards down to the event.

  3. A car may be a good option.
I've a large Merc E240 estate that can take 4 extra adults & loads of luggage.
I could pick you up on the way (Heathrow), via box hill and across country, approaching Brighton from the East coast road.
    I'd like to there early.
If you travel by bike I'd let you use it to store your gear.
I'd make a day of it.

    Hope this helps someone.

  4. Approaching from the east is a good idea, you will travel a few mile further, but the payoff is that the vast majority of punters enter from the A23.

The 'Marina' is a good place to head for initially, ( clearly signposted) then head the 1-2 miles due west until you can see the action, and then take any right turning and find yourself a parking spot.

Remember to take a note of the road that you have parked in to prevent losing your car/bike!

  5. Bike parking at the Marina (BN2 5UF) is free from memory, although it's a good 40 minute walk (longer in bike boots) to the main strip.

If I find I can't find my car after parking I'll stop driving. :Walkingdead:

Let me know if you would like to take advantage of the offer of a lift or storage for the day.
"Start a conversation"...used to be "PM".

  6. In all seriousness ACT, I take my Garmin Geko with me to log where I park my car!

  7. Never done the speed trials and would be interested in going. As John says it's brightonia and ace reunion soon

  8. Bear in mind, the speed trials are the Saturday so you can do both this and the Ace Sunday. I'm planning on doing both.

  9. Lucky you hope weather is good

  10. Work diary dictates that I won't be around on the Saturday :(

  11. No one wants to come with me in the car?
I'd take the R32, but you won't want to talk to me afterwards....Like a good Martini "shaken, not stirred".

  12. Girls car that. Goes like stink but no stamina!!!

  13. Girls car! You've clearly not driven one. Rips your arms off and snaps your neck...that coming from a lifetime rider of powerful motorcycles.

  14. It is weekend of 13th and 14th right? Count me in.

  15. The Brighton speed trials are this Saturday 6th Sept, but as far as I can see the ace cafe run is the Sunday 14tn September........ Have I got this right?

  16. Correct, there is some confuse it seems. Speed Trials are this coming Saturday afaik and according to their website.

I'm planning on being there, probably going by bike, maybe car if the weather is really pants and park locally. If by bike then it might be good to meet at The Chalet for breakfast, Harry was up for that.

  17. Well then I will only do Ace cafe day on 13th as not able to on 6th

  18. Rips yer arms off, snaps yer neck?? that's nothing - my Carlos Fandango tuned Integrale would detach yer upper torso on acceleration and yer retinas on braking..

  19. And that's just my driving :)
