Some one will have deep enough pockets . Honda NR750 Oval Piston Classic Vintage Rare Collectors, Rarer Than RC30 RC45 | eBay
He says will only go one way in value - down at that price  Bonhams realises the true value of these and is the best indicator, I think the last one sold for around £40K this year.
Jeez that's ugly, looks like a badly drawn VFR. I wonder what it goes like? It's great when people describe what they are selling as 'a guaranteed investment' etc. Is that guarantee legally binding so that when the bottom falls out of the market you can still get your money back?
I know a chap with a toilet seat made of gold but that doesn't change the fact that it looks horrible!
I've been told that I look a bit like Bradley Cooper (if he'd spent the last ten years on benefits) but 'Hollywood' wont return my calls!
nah this is one of those dealers that advertises all his stock well over the odds for six months/a year, even two years and then has a mysterious fire in a secure storage shed somwhere and claims the ridiculous values back on insurance.. happens a lot in the classic car market as well.
Amendment - actually sold for £57,500 including premium last October so not too far off the mark perhaps, just a little...
Never believe anything you read; here it is in 2011 for over £200k! The Holy Grail – 1993 Honda NR750 oval piston! | Rare SportBikes For Sale
Look, every one is aware of Massimo Tamburini's reported comments but don't take them out of context!!! The difference between the Model T and the Type 35 Bugatti is a perfect analogy. The 916 is a fab bike - great design visual and mechanical, the NSR is shit - looks shit, goes shit too, simple. Collectors folly, yes they are worth lots but only because of tasteless misguided people, just like you but with more money
Here it is for £115,000 too How Do You Like Them; Round Or Oval? 1993 Honda NR (750) | Rare SportBikes For Sale
Ha ha, it's the same guy selling it back in 2011, and it's now at a £157,000 discount. He was right when he said "this bike can only go one way in value". I'm going to buy it in six months time!
Even if Tamburini hadn't admitted the influence of the NR on the 916 styling the clues are obvious, e.g. slim headlights, single sided swing arm, underseat exhaust...... Tamburini did make it a lot prettier though, except leaving the exhaust cans on display as the NR is a lot tidier there. You had to wait for the 999 for Ducati to copy the indicators in the mirrors though. Wouldn't it be great if Honda got back to this kind of experimental engineering again? Eight valves per cylinder, "spam tin shaped" pistons, iridium screen were all at the forefront back then. They might not have been worthwhile but lessons got learnt. At the moment the Fireblade is only matched for low-tech by the GSXR, which is such a shame as Honda are capable of so much more. All their recent high tech has been a bit so-so, e.g. DCT, yet they can't get a VFR1200 under 267kg or over 130 miles to a tank, the current CBR600 is 20hp down on the old alloy frame ones etc. They look like a Company that's lost direction compared to the days of when they released bikes like the NR750, RC30, VFR750, CBR600, Fireblade etc. Lets hope they're back soon! Sorry.....drifted off topic a bit there....
I went to look at a bike at this dealer, I was in Windsor visiting a girlfriend - travelled down on my 1260 Nitrous GPZ (probably about 16 years ago now!) My chain needed tightening and they wouldn't lend me an allen key to adjust it - they wanted £20 to do it, a 2 min job! They knew I was travelling back to York too, bastards. PDQ helped out - fab people, what a contrast! Shop has the same name, so if it's the same owner do not go near this horrible man... I do wish I'd bought the bike I went to see though - it was Brain Johnston's Imperial Wizard Z1: European Pro Stock record holder from the 80's - it was up for £5000 - too dear at the time for me but worth lots more now, it eventually went to an American buyer.
