Won't be able to make it, Nicky, but I'm there for a track day next Wednesday. Good luck for the weekend though.
Afternoon! I was planning to put up some regular updates on here over the weekend but I was yet again foiled by the lack of 3G! Overall I had productive weekend. 9th overall in free practice was a positive start on Saturday afternoon. Followed by equaling my previous PB time at 8.35am on Sunday morning (not ideal time or conditions) to put me 11th on the grid for race one. Working with Colin at 100% suspension we made good progress with the set-up in each session. The tweaks we made meant I was 0.7 quicker in race one and I was running at high as 7th in the race but I slipped to 10th as my rear tyre went off. Happy with my new best time of 1.35.3 (split for 35.1 - nearly in the 34s!) and some more championship points. Race two was wet but due to the last minute changing weather conditions, there wasn't enough time to change to 'full wet' set up. I ended up in 14th after lap one and the bike felt generally good but I was struggling round Chris curve and on the exit of Charlie's 2. Eventually I lost touch with the battle for 7th and had to settle for 14th. Considering my previous wet performances I will most definitely take the positives from this one as we head to Assen in 3 weeks time.
Hi All, Riding bikes, we are all taking big risks, whether it is racing or on the road. Seeing anyone getting paralysed from a riding injury or by any other means is terrible and shocking to the individual and their families. Our sport has seen some great names like Rainey and more recently Lascorz suffer from terrible injuries which one day I hope there will be a cure for. To help raise money for Wings for Life, who specialise in spinal cord research, I will be running 20 miles up a mountain next weekend. For more details on my challenge and to donate to this good cause please visit this link. Thanks for your support Nick
I've now updated my website with the full race report from round 6 at Cadwell: race report Photo by Bonnie Lane (C)
Bored in the office. Anyone got any questions they would like to ask about me racing, the championship, the bike or any of my sponsors?:Banghead:
Hi Nicky What's the average cost of a race meeting for you inc tyres etc? Do you prep your own bike or do you ride it for a dealer? new to the site so apologies if you have answered these questions before.
Hi, yeah the bike working fine thanks. I didn't talk to Dennis at Cadwell, we weren't pitting near one another.
Hi Bob, it varies meeting to meeting but typically we get through 2 pairs of dry tyres (max allowed within the regulations), 1 drum of race fuel (control fuel as per the regulations) and then it's general wear and tare such as oil changes, brake pads etc. Oh and race entries. There are also costs like transport and accommodation. A typical weekend can be between £1k and £2k depending on the circumstances. With regards to looking after the bike, yes, we do most of it ourselves. If we need specialist help then we have a number of good contacts such as Snells Performance, Steve Jordan Motorcycles, 100% Suspension etc. who can help us.
