Hi All, I am looking to part with my 749s for an 848..... I have had 2 test rides but they have both been short with the sellers pressed for time..... Has anyone here moved in this direction, was the 848 more or less flip flop in the corners? was the extra power an advantage through "A" road riding or is the power range a change in riding technique?, did it help or hinder your confidence? Was it the right move for you? Yep I know long question but its gonna be a while before I can test ride again so looking to see what you felt was better or worse, and yes your own opinions is what I'm after Thx
come join me anywhere between ballachoolish and campbell town. less traffic=more fun. in 15 years never seen a copper on the oban lochgilphead road yet. v.nice v.good v.quick.
I went from a 749S to 848 Evo Corse last year and yep its different! I found the 749 uncomfortable but the 848 is pretty good. Handles better, nicer power, and if you get a Corse with the quickshifter..... Bam from the pipes when you get the revs right. Was told that flames also come out sometimes but not experienced that!
Again, I'd disagree... Stopped off at a random pub last night on the way back for a cheeky pint & had a crowd around mine when I came out... & no they were not trying to load it into their van haha... Comments like "If I had a bike it would be this one"... "One of the best looking Ducati's"... Makes a bloke proud...
Blending into the background? I must put a couple of shit stickers on it and say look at my custom shit look
Had a 749 a few years ago and I find there is a big difference. The 848 makes you want to ride it fast, everywhere. Also agree re the looks. Opted for an 848 over an 899. That cumberland sausage under the 899 seat looks ridiculous and the move away from the underseat pipes is a mistake(in my humble opinion). I think the 848/1098/1198 are the best looking Ducatis. But I am biased.
I have a 998s, a 749r and a 1098s they ALL make me want to ride them fast, everywhere. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I personally have always preferred the uniqueness of the 749/999 series but accept I'm in a minority there. I also think of my 3 bikes the 749r appearance has dated the least. On the road the 749r is the by far the best of the 3 to ride and puts the biggest smile on my face.
