After getting a quote of £800 for the 15000 mile service on my SF1098 I'm going to do it my self. Belts look very straight forward , but I'm wondering how many bikes need shims at 15000 miles. After a few searches on google there doesn't seem to be much info on the 1098 shim how to videos. How hard a job is it? I'm pritty good at mechanics but wouldn't mind some guidance and things to look out for before hand please.
Looking at the 748 workshop manual I down loaded, the section on shimming isn't very long. Measuring for comparison with the OE gaps doesn't seem difficult but access is restricted. Re-shimming is shown being done with the engine out so I am starting to save now because I am definitely not that brave. I wish you the very best of luck. Andy

Yours looks like a right nightmare to get into. My 916 project bike is the same. Something to look forward to I suppose.
Belts on last night. Hardest part was getting the top belt cover back on lol. Oil change and coolant tonight and ready to go.
