848 Oem Shift Lever Needed.

  1. :(

After a very successful suspension set up involving repeatedly dragging the missus out of the kitchen pinny and all to take measurments for me I hastily tried to get the bike back in the the shed as the rain started to come down.

    Bang.

Front wheel skates across one of the damp planks I use to reduce step up into shed.

    New clutch lever ordered.

Gear shift lever is harder to find, bidding on one on eBay, found out OEM cost... If all else fails what are my best options? Seems a fairly good excuse to get rear sets? Didnt really have a problem with foot control positions though.

No other damage luckily, landed on plywood floor of shed and slippy planks. Shame the money I saved on paying a pro to set suspenders up is going straight out on parts, some kind of weird capitalist karma perhaps.

  2. j have one i don't need! :upyeah:

  3. Can the gear lever be straightened?
    Sorry for your accident.

  4. Take the opportunity to go reverse shift and chuck a direct lever on :upyeah:

  5. if it has only been dropped, i bet it could!

  6. I've managed to bend it back to being usable but it was bent at an unsightly angle by the steel door frame. I've pushed it as far as I dare away from lower fairing without the inevitable shearing sure to follow, I get a clean shift but its not in the sweet spot any more.

Could you PM your email/contact details? There's 20 something hours left on eBay, if I don't win I'll gladly part with a fair price for yours!

  7. I'll reference you when i present this as this being the only alternative to the missus should it come to it :upyeah:

  8. £25 for a direct lever...

  9. Can you elaborate, not familiar with direct levers...

  10. Goes straight onto the spline without a linkage. So you have 1 up & 5 down. (Race shift)

  11. See it as an excuse to add some tasty rearsets :)

  12. ahhh. Makes sense.

This is not a moan, just for future thread posting reference: See my threads been moved away from the general Ducati public.... do threads like this get a shelf life in general before being moved on?

I only ask as I chose to ask question in general area as there may be many ex 848 owners (lucky swines on 899's most likely) who have suggestions but would otherwise not bother looking in the 848/1098 section......

Its a bit like when the wife tries to be useful and tidies up all the things I've left out as visual reminders to get them sorted only to be found 3 months later in the letter rack/fruit bowel/bits and bobs basket accompanied by a 'so THAT'S where that (usually a socket or similar that i've already replaced) went.......!'

  13. on a similar vein.... tasty rearsets wanted..! :Angelic:

  14. Most seem to use the new posts link which brings everything up

  15. Oh ok, that makes sense.
