If you ride the track in lieu of the road then that's fine. If you do both then you far too much time on your hands and too much money
Tbh riding on the roads does,nt do it for me any more for a lot of different reasons, out 3 times this year for a brekkie run, factor in insurance and thats a pricey fry up. Race fairings going on over the winter, gonna stick with trackdays for a year or two while I,m still relatively fit .
SIXTEEN ! RESPECT Ive done ten and that's been busy enough. Have to agree about the road stuff it does nothing for me anymore but, hey , each to there own . Where you off to on Friday ? if its Cadwell see you there [black Aprilia 550]fast group
ive done 14 so far...then 2 next week, 1 at the end of the month and then 1(poss 2) days in oct planned at the mo. (not technically all Trackdays, as some are races, but all days on Track!)
Well that came back to haunt me!! Got 4 laps in on the first session and pulled a muscle in my lower back, off to physio later:Inpain: Had to pack up and come home , not nice
Hardly any this year, first one broke my arm and bike which put me back at least two months. Then bike been in the garage since mid June for a tune up Probably 7, plus 6k leisure miles, expected to have done 10 TD plus 3 race rounds by now
Oh shit, not too bothered smashing the bike up, but myself, well , eh no thanks. Get to Cartagena, and all that will be a distant memory
First real year of trackdays for me and it's 8 this year so far, want to get a few more in before it all goes pear shaped! Been fun mostly, little frustrating at times but I've not come away feeling anything but great at the end of the day. 16 is quite a lot though! I can only wish atm!
Matt do a Euro trip if you havent. Great way to spend a few days, no pressure, southern spain = 90% chance dry whenever, fab craic Ryder, my chances this year are diminishing although all not lost yet as Ali is looking to convince me to do one mid Nov instead Watched Bikeworld last night, SBK shootout with fast bikes and feck do I want to do some track time now!
I'm looking at that already Booked a few days off in November just after my birthday to potentially go to Almeria, just need to sort a few things out at work and look into the finer details. Sounds pretty good though from all I've heard about them.
Did my first last year. 2014. 3 days in Spain 1 x Pembury 1 x Castle Doom 1 x Odiham 2 x Silverstone (thanks Matt) 1 x Donny (thanks Matt) 1 x Odiham (booked for Sept) Already plotting another Spanish Odyssey early 2015. Totally get the "track day only" philosophy.
Do it. Seriously. The vibe is totally different, the craic off track is fab. And 4 days on the same track means you learn so mush about you and the bike. Budget at least a new rear if not new tyres Btw if its the 12 Nov FE event I'm working on it
Real bikers do both I couldn't give up road riding, did a few K miles when I was racing so not as much as normal but love 'being free' too much
I know mate, however went out this evening and yet another close call! Damn near head on with a chav overtaking on a bend!
Do a Bikesafe or whatever and up you're skills. The close calls become less. No piss taking involved. Anyone who rides with me knows I rode at a decent pace and, rarely hot 3 figs but dont slow for corners either (thats where the fun is) but with some friends do the stupid stuff. the more I've practiced and learned, the less close calls I have had. No offence meant, not ridden with you and you may be almost as good as Andyb for all I know
