Well I guess the reasonable weather and Moto GP at Silverstone brought them out but Jesus Christ I can see why bikers get wiped out so often. Some of the riding I saw was frigging dangerous, not fast or reckless but just crap. Oh and some of the kit blokes feel will protect them in case of a fall amazes me.
Asi said in another thread on the way up I didn't know my way.... Was supposed to be riding with just my mate.... Waited for him at the Chippenham m4 junction.... He said he'd be with others (none that I knew) and therein lies the problem (for me anyway) as soon as someone knocks it up a notch everyone does... I was trying to hang back but us forced to follow, resulting in going through a speed camera (which I knew roughly where it was but pissed me off all the same) as if I was riding and not been stressed out about getting lost I would have seen it... Hopefully my strip plate will save me but I'm not sure.... Just to add I deliberately did not wear full leathers as I was expecting to be taking it easy so had dragging Jeans on (I've never been before so this visit was kind of a reconnaissance run) .... So felt even more vulnerable pushing it.... Not so much into the speed these days but more the handling... Getting the lean angle and body position right and all that....
saw a total idiot Monday night on a blue norton commander rotary, no tail light riding at night, cutting up motorists with out warning. he had the riding skills and ability of a 12 year old - what a waste of a rare bike that is going to get involved in an incident sooner rather than later
See it all to often commuting into town - normally it's all the riders on high powered scooters and such it amazes me some are still alive and what really annoys me is when another biker decides to overtake you then just sit in front of you not going anywhere fast what's that all about and overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road on the outside of an island in the road
Funny you should mention that - was out on Saturday with mate of mine on fast A road and travelling reasonably quickly (but not excessive) - saw R1 waiting at junction and several miles later realised he was catching up so eased off and pulled over a bit (best to make sure you know what is catching you just in case). He then slowed down but sat in crown of road missing easy overtaking opportunities and preventing us from making any further progress. Have to say the standard of riding that I see is often really pretty poor - I am no great shakes and am definitely getting old and slow but if I see a bike catching me up I ease off and try to make it easy for them to overtake as I do not want to get in to any sort of race or competition.
And I just love riding in London. With regarding of sitting in front what drives me nuts are scooters with freaking flag pools for mirrors. They have them, they cannot pass between cars yet somehow they do not see you behind them waiting for them to move the fat ass off the road. Yes small scooter is more maneuverable at low speed but that does not mean you will always be faster in traffic then someone on bigger bike. Move your fat ass!!!!!!..... Unless you are a fit, skinny woman.
I was overtaken by one of those three wheeler scooter thingies, it was in a traffic jam though, but still ...
And on the track....watched some guy today slide up the side of another rider, smack the guys elbow with his and then try to heatbutt him! WTF!?! I only saw him get crazy close then knock elbows on track, wasn't till I looked back on the gopro footage after the last session that I realised it was more sinister than it at first seemed Utter madness
