Polite Hi-viz

  1. What on earth would make you want to buy and wear a Hi-Viz vest with POLITE on the back?

  2. I don't..............but then, I'm covered with bloody Arlen Ness for what good or bad that does.....

  3. Yes, I've seen those. I would have thought one was liable to prosecution for impersonating a police officer, especially as that sort of rider often has splashes of suggestively applied hi-viz on the fairing (of a white BMW).

  4. Can see why cyclists in London wear them, makes drivers think twice, but not on a powered bike. Not like it makes you more visible: its on the back!

  5. The Police actually endorse it, but I bet not for the right reasons, it is because they want other drivers to think it is a police bike so to make every one slam their brakes on sight and cause an accident, but in their eyes to slow road users down.

  6. You might as well ask why do people listen to One Direction? Or watch Strictly or Eastenders?

90% of my shunts were whilst commuting. So I can understand wanting to be more visible. Polite? Well I am not. I'm not rude either.

I walk to work now. So much better than commuting. I get up at 7.45am, shower and walk 10mins to work. Come home for lunch etc. Trust me, this is worth the £5k less I earn not working in the city. I'm home by 5:45pm. If you can manage this it will make your life nicer.

  9. Actually I get up, feed the cat, make a cuppa and have a fag. Cat gets fed first just to shut her up. Besides its her that fucking woke me up 15mins before my alarm goes off.

  11. I wear an Oxford Hi vis thing with reflective panels. There I've said it. I wear it to contrast with my surroundings, ie I wear it at night or when visibility is low. In sunshine I don't bother. Does it make a difference? probably not, but if I come off at night, I would imagine it would help. The whole Polite Notice thing is crap IMO
They say that if you want to disappear in a city, walk along in hi vis. Nobody will pay you any attention

  12. Its not the high viz matt, actually imho that makes you more visible than DRL on country roads, its the POLiTE shite...

  15. Matt rather selfish  to make everyone look at you and put everyone else at risk around you because everyone sees you and no one else on the road

  17. Maybe If I had in very large letters Blazoned right across my front "COMING THROUGH FAST" it would alleviate any blame on my part for speeding :)

  18. I think you'd be better off allowing for your big ends to dump themselves or for your suspension to go tits up.

  19. you are right of course Paul, but the ones i've seen are a dead ringer for the Police Issue versions apart from the T/C swap i.e. - looks convincing from every angle : )

  20. Hi , my name is Peter 0'Lite. Why are you having a go at me wearing a shirt with my name in it. Footballers have there names on their shirts and bootsam has his shoe size on his leathers. Finm, well he just wears a smile.
