  3. Btwi am actually hanging off as far as i can and still reach the bars and pegs!

  4. Not the most mobile of riders and it definitely feels as if I am hanging off more than the evidence suggests.

  8. One from my first session at the Ducati day at Silverstone. Took me a couple of sessions to relax and sort my positioning out so looks like I'm going to be pushing the front in this one, which is ironic as it was the rear that went out heavily in that session :)

  14. Anglesey track day

  15. Just been sent this from a French friend of mine. It's his 17 year old son on a track day with him. He's only just turned 17 and I don't think he'd been on a track day until age 16. I'm not even sure he rides on the road and he definitely doesn't race. The kid learns quickly, it would appear and is now very keen to get his elbow down. This is at Magny Cours.

    Makes you sick, doesn't it?

  16. Only of its true ;)

  17. It is true. Close friend. This is the 8th time his son has been on the track.

The way I look at it is this:
It's not his bike and he won't have to pay for it or fix it when he bins it (makes you much faster).
He's too young to know how much falling off hurts (probably never has).
He has no ingrained bad habits.
He has no ingrained road-riding habits.

He was fast from the off, apparently. Gérard was telling me how he was immediately knee down on his first trackday at Le Castellet, and Gérard has been tutoring him ever since.

  18. How much track time? Is your mate a fast racer and knows how to tutor? Where did he get the knowledge and skills to be abel to set himself up on a bike right (body position looks spot on)? What about gears/brakes/turning all at the same time?

Not doubting you or trolling btw, but even the best have had tuotion and started from somewhere and if he rides like that after a couple of goes at it (even allowing for stupidness of youth) get him racing

  19. All I know is what Gérard told me yesterday. Gérard has done a lot of track in the last decade or so and I would expect him to be quite a good tutor by now, although he has never raced (racing is something else).
So I expect his son Alex has been on track about 8 times now in a bit over a year. I suspect that that is not just 8 days, but maybe 8 weekends. I would expect him to make rapid progress at that age and that frequency, but he does appear to be pretty good at it. I did also suggest that maybe he should be racing.
