I had a 120mph lowside at that very corner on a 03 Z1000. I slid on my arse for nearly 300 yards down that very same concrete run off
Really thinking out loud here, but if fluid was old and the brakes were already well used, could the fluid have just boiled at some point locally in the caliper? Introduce a bubble and no brakey thingy, after it cooled things would return to normal. Dunno..............just a guess John
I know brake fluid is hydroscopic , so if old will boil ... But I've found when it happens the brakes seize onto the disc or I mean the pistons do. Usually they grab on so you stop rather then go back in and not work? I could be totally wrong of course
Another mechanism to explain no brakes could be pad vibration following a tank slapper forcing the pads to push the pistons back into the caliper bodies, the first pull on the brakes moves the pads partially back to the disc surface but it takes a realease and a second pull to apply any real pressure.
