I would like a 899 streetfighter, if retuned for some torque I would almost definitely buy one. My 848 is great
well that means my 1199 s will now be worth 8k not 12k ,fk me ha may as well keep it as a track bike,
Am still to use the full amount power I have already so another 100cc worthless to me , il not fall for. The bullshit of having the latest number il buy a new sticker instead . Jimmy 1098 s still fetching decent money dont worry you only loose money if u sell it I'd rather keep in the garage than trade it for pennies .
will it be allowed to compete against other makes of bikes or will it be another 899 waste of space....
Extract: From what we can gather at this time, the 1299 will be a stop-gap model that has been purpose-built from the ground up to take advantage of World Superbike rules. As loyal readers will know, World Superbike’s rules set to change for 2015, and engine requirements will follow the “EVO” set of rules going forth, so obviously this engine overhaul found on the 1299 will be crucial in keeping Ducati competitive in the premier production racing class.
As with all Ducati superbikes each model gets superceeded year on year... 996R to 998R, 999R cast swingarm, 999R with ally swingarm, 1098R, Bayliss, 1198SP to name a few. I suspect it'll be somewhere between the current R and SL in terms of spec with an additional 100cc's
999R Cast Swing arm and 999R Alloy Swing Arm were 2 years each. Alloy Swing Arm available as an option on 2003 bikes too.
cheap 1199s to come then? I got a "bargain" with the 848 in 2010; got free helmet, boots, gloves, back protector... Should have smelt something fishy; 848 evo released weeks after I received my bike... In hindsight I should have said, "keep all the gear; cause I've already got it, and knock some cash off the base price..." So, if rumours are true, then there may be some bargain 1199 to be had?
So what is the new rule regarding cc allowance? I've just read the PDF links from the asphalt and rubber page and can't seem to find reference, my point being if there isn't a restriction surely bmw being the size they are will just knock out a 1200 special? That'll tear the arse off a 1299 twin?
If it's anything like the old days it will probably be something like 1000 for an il4, 1150 for a triple and 1300 for a twin. Certainly in supersport it was 600/675/750.....
Wishful thinking. I would imagine the dealers will see it as an opportunity to give you sod all for your 1199 but by the time they've wheeled it from the forecourt to the the showroom it'll be priced at full whack again.
This is what I was saying about 2 months ago when I was buying a 1199. Every dealer I spoke to would happily discount a 1199 (some more than others) but 899 were list price. I knew a new 1199 was around the corner as when I asked I didn't get an entirely straight answer. That coupled with the 899 being more expensive to insure and me wanting the 1199 spec made me buy one for not much more than a 899 rrp. Whatever happens a 1199 will still worth more than a 899 in a couple of years so I'm happy. Well, I do kinda still want a 1098r but that's another story. I got my 848 just as the evo was being sold. Meant it was over £2k cheaper. That paid for lots of mods which made a better bike overall. I do same with phones, I'll get a 5s now the iPhone 6 is out. Just because the tech is 6-12 months old doesn't mean its rubbish. I'd rather that and save some £££
