Whats The Difference Between ....

  1. ..... a superbike and a sports bike?

    Heard a bloke bragging earlier about owning a superbike and it got me thinking. And cringing when he corrected his mate.

    What defines a superbike? 1199 is one id say. Top bhp, tech , and looks.

    As in its day is a 916. But in terms of power, and tech it's lagging behind nowadays. Still a superbike or now sports?

    899 /848/748 I'd say is sports but still has more power and tech than most in its day.

  3. to me it's the modern sportsbikes which are called superbikes. like you said, 916s, old blades, r1s are now sports bikes??? and would have been super bikes in their day.

    Superbikes are Super
    Sportsbikes are Sporty

  17. An insurance company once told me a sports orientated bike upto 750cc was classed as a sports bike and anything above was a superbike but who knows!?:confused:
