Radial Ohlins Vs Radial Ohlins ???

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Exige, Sep 18, 2014.

  1. What's the difference between 999 Radial Ohlins Forks and RSV-R Factory Radial Ohlins of the same era?
Was thinking of buying an Aprilia front end for Project bike 2.

  2. Thanks, understood that - just wondered if the Aprilia ones were as good as the 999R ones, I guess they are similar then?

  3. The aprilia ones are longer iirc, and the stanchions are 54/56 I think.
Otherwise yes stock r&t forks. I think the factory has the leading edge mounted rebound and compression doesn't it? - which do look pretty neat.

Mr R, I didn't know that the 888sp4 ohlins were the same as the works bike of the era.

  4. Yes it does have an extra twiddley bit on the front - I think I will maybe go for them.

  5. Go onto the ohlins site, they may be still current enough for them to have simple schematics on the site. At least you have a quick length and diameter guide.

Also go onto eBay.com as often you'll find some breakers kindly list measurements too.

  6. Thanks, no need as I have a Factory and a couple of 999R's to check dims . Was wondering more on the spec, if the Aprilia ones were made to a lower budget or not.

  7. Ahh but are they though?
Have you rung the factories to confirm they are what they say they are?

  8. Cheeky

  9. Thanks Steve, that is super bobble hat interesting - almost makes buying an SP4 worth it for that alone (and I always liked the number on the fairing lower better than the SP5 as well :) )

    thanks :)
