  1. hi folks i know this has been done to death , but i want to hear it from a uk perspective not some yank prick chopsing off .....ok emma has seen a 748 which we're in the process of buying but ive just been offered a 749S IN EXCELLENT CON ....has anyone lowered theres as emm's got it into her head it may be a bit much ??? she's 5'2" and fits the 748 well and is confident with it but found the 9 a bit high and a bit heavy moving it around on and off the bike ..........has anyone got any usefull input with what we should do ....................i know where my heart lies but will this be a bad move ?????????????

  4. Well, there isnt much scope to sculpt the seat, BUT we can build a shorter shock for her....I wouldnt lower it more than 30mm, and you can narrow the seat a tad, which when combined, should make it a LOT easier to touch the ground.....the forks will need bringing up through the yokes too but its all "do able".....and the testastretta engine is a better bet for reliability.....Having had a better look tho, you may be better of to sculpt the tank, or with those fun bags she'll NEVER get behind the screen ! Lol....

  5. Your more than welcome to come and measure for size if you need to sculpt the tank.....I can do it in my bra stox and nix if that makes it easier???? Emm xx

  6. Gulp ! Might need the inside leg measurement too in order to calculate the required shortening of shock length...then might have to double check when its fitted, then prob just have to check it again when we drop the forks, and then when.,.......Lol......

  7. Does the 749S have rear ride height adjustment? I am considering lowering my Multistrada 1000 S DS which has a rear ride height adjuster (a bar with threads at either end). Basically you take it off, remove the eyelets at either end, machine 1/4" off each end, put the eyelets back on and because it has a 2:1 linkage ration the small amount removed results in circa 1" lowering. You then need to drop the forks through the yokes a corresponding amount. All fine and dandy on a lofty Multisrada i.e.plenty of ground clearance to start with. You might need to machine less off on a 749?

I was pointed towards this bloke as someone who is well versed in this conversion and comes highly recommended via the Multistrada.net :

  13. well done for joining up, now get the 749 it's brilliant. My basic 749 has ride height adjustment, I'm almost flat to the floor but am 5ft 4in with average length leg. A friend of mine had a rear suspension spring thingy made for her as she's a real lightweight (maybe 7 st on a fat day)and the standard yellow one didn't move when she sat on her bike. Made a big difference, she's about 5'2" to 5'3".

  14. Sorry, should have said that was on a monster which is taller then the 749, she dropped the forks through the yokes as well.

  15. ok we've decided to stick with the 748 for now , and it should be be with us next week ...the 749 just wasnt right for emm ...real shame but she wants the 748 and to be fair i know what im getting with the 8 never been near the 749/999 family ....cant wait
