  1. Well its booked in for tomorrow,

Just wondered if its work getting the belts changed?

Ducati say 2 years or 15000miles...

but as they are checking the shims ect there is no extra labour just the price of the belts (£30 each x2)

    Do most owners change them??

also I'm thinking about dialing in the exhaust cam for a little extra power as they are never correct from the factory.

  2. Why change them for the sake of it? If you've adhered to Ducati's regime the bike should be fine. Additionally I can't see that the dealer wouldn't charge for the extra time to fit the belts. Can't help with 'dialing in the exhaust cam'?

  3. I would only change belts as per service schedule.

  4. how much are you being quoted for the service? - i was quoted between £650 - £750 today for the "desmo" service

  5. Didnt really ask...

getting quite a bit of extra work done, so far its been there two days now!

  6. Oh dear

  7. That quote above looks really high. Servicing costs was one thing I researched (a bit) before seriously considering a Ducati. The Glasgow shop have fixed servicing costs advertised and they are more like £250 + £150 for belts (from memory - I'll check)...

  8. Just had a look back at that:-

Ducati Glasgow reckon the following fixed prices apply for an 8 valve engine.

Every 12 months / 7500 miles = Basic Service £195 + Valves and Belt Check and Adjustment etc. £144 = £339 all in
    Every 24 months / 15000 miles = Basic Service £224 + Valves and Belts Check etc. £144 + Replacement Belts £60 = £428 all in

Not sure if this helps but hopefully it's useful.

  9. Sycamore Ducati gave me similar prices for servicing to those stated by andyp79. The yearly or 7500 was about £230 and the two yearly or 15000 was about £400.

  10. My local independent says the belts will last way longer than ducati say. If fact he uses the ones taken off bike at service time for his racing bikes....

  11. Ok, finally got my bike back after 4 full days,

in short the bike feels good real good!

£588 later they cleaned out the front and rear brakes, not sure what they did to the rear but it feels twice as strong now.

3 of my shims needed changing as they were off.

they dialed in the inlet and exhaust cams and found the inlet's to be 2 degrees off and one of the exhaust 3 degrees off.
(bike feels stronger cleaner pull in the midrange now)

all fluids changed, didn’t need plugs (should of just replaced?) or belts but he did slightly slacken off the belts due to being to tight.

Also my real lock for my passenger seat cowl fell out so sorted that under warranty.
