Just Spent The Weekend Test Riding The Diavel To See If It'll Make A Good Second Bike

  1. However after doing lots of miles in all sorts of riding conditions I've finally concluded that though it's a great bike it's not a fantastic bike........for me at least. And I'm bitterly disappointed as I so wanted it to be.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great bike, but just didn't tick all the boxes that I desperately wanted it to as a second bike.

It is definitely made for the twisties and goes like buggery whilst doing so, but it doesn't do long journeys.........for me at least. It became uncomfortable after an hour and a half or so, which my 899 doesn't. I've ridden for hours on end on the 899 and I've felt fresh as a daisy when I've got off it. Not so on the Diavel. :(

However wherever I parked up it did attract lots of attention both from bikers and Joe Public, all interested in what it was and how it performed. Which I found very interesting. :)

So in conclusion I'm disappointed, so the search for a good second bike goes on. All suggestions for a short arse will be considered ;)

Plus points: grunt, handling, looks (love it or hate it), keyless start (when it works smoothly)
Minus points: long distance comfort, keyless start (when it doesn't work smoothly)

  14. Monster 1200?
Saw one on sat whilst picking up the pani post warranty work.
Had termis, tail tidy etc, looked lovely.

  15. Yeah I was thinking that too. I've ridden one twice already. Once for two hours and once for an hour. And I enjoyed that. I'd like to see what it was like being in the saddle all day though.

  16. Sorry to hear that, I found exactly the opposite. I can ride my Diavel all day, but I tried an 899 last week and wasn't at all keen on the riding position.

  17. I really wanted it to tick all the boxes for me. And it was close.

  18. bollox to comfort - buy it, chuck those bars away and put some clip on on it, and ride it like a half closed pen knife - don't forget the wrap around shades. I loved a ride on a Diavel, :)
