Thinking Of Buying A Cagiva Mito...

  1. Exige, that's not too far from me. Do you want me to go have a look?

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. Thanks for the offer! After advice/info from RCFV4 I have decided against it - I was looking for an early one and thought this was 1970's as the ad stated. Turns out the Engine is 1990 onwards and the frame is 1980's or 1990's too!

  3. Ah that's a shame. Mito it is then!

  4. Will probably try and refrain - keeping my budget for the builds if possible!

  5. It was the RC390 release that got me looking at little bikes. RS125s are high priced piles of shite (mostly) despite being a fantastic machine. The Mito is also an interesting proposition but hard to find a good one there too.

  6. This is mine, shes going in a couple of weeks to fund my flattrack bike for next season. 20121113_162917.jpg

  7. That's a good looking motorbike!

  8. Any interest in selling a Supercity Chris? Had one years back-would love another

  9. tempted 6 will reply in full when have time - off out for ride : )

  10. @Exige Did you ever get a Mito in the end? I found this thread again whilst researching a 2 stroke toy.

I went for an April RS125 in the end as the parts are easier to find and I intend to crash it regularly.

  11. Nope, too many irons in the fire - Aprilia sounds a good choice though :)

  12. There's a Mito SP525 on gumtree at the moment, they're very rare.

I think the price of a well kept RS125 will approach that of the RS250 in just a few years. They're being destroyed at an appalling rate.

Not that mine will be an investment; it's a technical exercise in corner speed.

  16. I was considering Mito or rs125, in end bought a brand new RS125, unrestricted after first service and a absolute rocket(well how i remember) 120mph+ easy everyday for work.
Did have a few problems though, standard exhaust split so kept breaking down, took back to dealer few times but they didn't find it(kickstart PT) then took to fowlers. they found the fault and all happy again.
Until one day on way to work slowing down for roundabout couldn't select below 4, after fowlers fixing the bike after a few weeks picked the bike up, and to my joy (not!!) on the way home engine blow and snapped shaft.
Apparently when the Aprilia engineer visited the house he told me fowlers fitted gearbox oil seal wrong way round and that was the cause......... Fowlers denied it and tried charging me storage £1300......picked bike up and set it to finance company..

The look on the guys face from the finance company when he turned up was priceless, leathered up and lid in hand, then i showed him a frame and 4 cardboard boxes........

  17. Just found this thread , found it a good read especially as I bought a dog of a Mito from Gumtree a month ago. Rear wheel bearings had collapsed due to nipper neglect/lack of maintainance. Paid £350 quid for her which was worth it even if I had to break her. Bought with the intention for my girlfriend to have as a first bike. Four weeks and a serious amount of hrs labour ive fallen in love and dont want to let her have it ha! Came with two complete sets of panels and tanks so have repaired and painted the best ones. Threw in a 36 quid swingarm from an auction sight, new bearings, pads and other safety biased parts and shes looking well. Probably owes me £800 as she stands now.

  19. ^ you have picked well - I even remember the bike! It's a personal thing but an RS125 doesn't hold a candle to the Mito particularly when it comes to styling. I would sooner have an NSR125 than an RS. The Rotax engines are good but the whole package just doesn't gel. Freccia, Mito (in all it's forms) Planet and Supercity just can't be beat ;)
