How many of you guys have private number plates

  1. Er, no. Maybe if it was Ducati related maybe, but then it would cost too much. Anyway, I'd feel like a tosser BMW driver trying to make a plate spell something by sticking black/yellow screws in to join up the letters. Plus, unless the thing spells something only you know what it means. I'd rather spend my money on the bike.

  2. I have one on my car but it looks like a standard plate as it's the new style and the lettering etc. isn't obvious unless you know us. I don't like private plates on my cars or bikes and never have done but I got this one as a surprise wedding present from my wife. It's her initials (2 letters) the year we were married and then my initials (3 letters) but unless you know, you would never twig it's a private plate, which I suppose is ok for me really. I would prefer that the car had a local reg number to be honest.

My bikes have always had the "normal" plate but my wife got a short reg for her 21st a few years ago and she loves it. We kind of want to buy the "matching" one of mine for her car - my initials, the year we were married, her name (3 letters) but it's about £1k which is far too much of a luxury for me.

  3. I have B7 LOC. looks like bollock ( which is obviously a cow)

  4. I ve got 7 CDB on mrs merc. My initials and will be present for my boy (same initials) when he gets older.

  5. I have WDN 998R, which would be great if I had a 998R. But I don't. So it's not.

  6. I saw a plate on a car the other day (think it was an Audi) which made me smile.........AR51 GET

  7. Private plates are the bain of my working life..........however I still bought my wife Emma M6 EAU for her car, daughter is called Beau so plate reads M 6EAU. :upyeah:

I've also got J2 XER of my GSXR ! Not really sure what to do with it, I like the look of it but might look a bit sad on the 1098 !

  8. My 996 came with W2 SPS on it which I rather like. I also splashed out a coupla hundred quid on OO04 KTM for my SuperDuke. I know there is a cracking plate that spells my name available, but at £6K it will have to wait till I'm bloody rich!

  9. I don't really get this private plate thing. Probably because I left the country before it became fashionable. It's like text-speak - I just don't naturally read it.

If I saw M6 EAU I'd think (a) nothing and (b) there was water on the motorway. I might think (b) before (a) if I was on a long trip, bored and had nothing to occupy me.
I can see that it could just be a personal thing, but then surely the plate shouldn't cost anything much if it's just a personal in joke without value to anyone else.
