As above, I bought my 2013 bike and had another year's Ducati warranty added. Is this transferable to the new owner as part of a private sale of the bike? Thanks
If the terms of your warranty are the same as mine, then Yes. Inform Ducati of the transfer of title immediately. I believe there's a form in the warranty booklet for this. Clause 6 or 8 "Entitlements" I think it is of the warranty that I purchased specifically sets out the rights of transfer etc. Check your terms in case your agreement differs from mine. I bought mine not that long ago and so am relying upon what I think I can remember. I'm reasonably confident it expressly sets out the conditions for transfer either to another person or another bike owned by you if the original bike covered by the contract is destroyed or lost in the 1st 24 months.
SPECIAL NOTE, only the original purchaser can extend the warranty, not the second or third owner etc.
Was your dealer the first owner? I know I bought a brand new pre reg bike, so I will be the 2nd owner, but they can extend the warranty for the 3rd year as part of our agreement, just cannot do it till a date on the 2nd year apparently.
"I don't work for Ducati, I was just told that by Snells (tom) when I went to purchase it." That would apply for me then, as my Dealer was the first owner and they said they would extend the warranty to the 3rd year for free.
Hi, no, there was another person whom owned the bike before me, I think sold by Hyside but they were never the owner of the bike.
OK the advice should be check with your local Ducati dealer BEFORE you buy a second hand machine. If necessary do a deal with the seller, so that he adds the extra warranty before selling. Or perhaps so long as it is purchased before the details on DUCATI's records show a second owner... OR Snells are mistaken.
ACT, I believe you are correct, only the first owner can extend it, not subsequent owners. It can however be done from day 1 of ownership, it no longer needs the owner to wait. I extended mine when I bought my new bike as part of the initial sales invoice.
Hmm next Question is, if you buy a 2nd hand bike that has had the warranty extended to 3yrs is that extended warranty passed on to the new owner?
YES....it is. I can confirm am the second owner of a Pikes Peak 2013 and the exhaust is being replaced under the warranty.
