For me, don't a fair bit on the hyper...most of it tootling around where I live - to work, my old mans house etc etc. Id have like to have used the RSV4 more but it spent most of the summer with the top end off waiting for spares. It was leaking oil out of the rocker covers but I went to the TT on it all the same. It was fine but didn't have my mojo with me as my dad died the day before I came out and the last conversation we had he told me to be careful - so I didn't have it in me to treat it like the year before....went to the motogp on it this year....but as with all trips - I took it to give it a run but wore my jeans and leather jacket so I didn't have to carry too much. I was supposed to be going with my mate but then it turned into 10 and then they picked up another load on the way. In the end I didn't know anyone (apart from my mate) - or really where I was going, then the one at the front kicked off and everyone started to crank up the speed (which is what I was trying to avoid as I just wanted an easy ride after getting it all back together) plus on top of all of that everyone was wearing leathers - my mate included! So, next year hopefully more but, ill have the supermoto build up and running then so I want to get some use out of that! - id say its shaping up but its still in a million pieces....not because ive not done anything....far from it - I reckon ive burnt through at least 1.5k so far but the final piece (the engine) is currently being built after being coated. I cant really start building it til I get that back as the first bolt in goes through the engine, swing arm, and frame at the same time....
only done 700 odd miles on the 848 during the 6 months of ownership. not good and about the same as what i did on the blade in spain. (6,000 kms in 7 years)! all down to having a job which involves having to do loads of hours and consistently shifting between day and night shifts.
Im not one shifts but I do tend to do a meaty amount of hours, add in family time and then theres not much left. I don't think even with lack of use id get rid of any of my bikes as Ive worked (and still am working) too hard to get rid of them. Even when they don't get used for a while it nice just to poke my head round the garage door and smile to myself and then think "yeah - I fucking own those!" That time will be more often as the winter sets in but doesn't bother me in the slightest....as its more of an occasion when I do get to ride them again. Just to add if I was to get rid of one id get something else although theres not much else out there that I like at the moment - the only thing is, I hasten to say it going for the easy life and swapping the rsv4 out for a streefighter 1098....but then, ive got the hyper....
I've no idea how many I've done this year as I haven't paid any attention to the clock but one things for sure it's more than last year but still no way near enough!
Doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy it, 10 miles a year to the pub and back can be at least as enjoyable as a fast blast to Brno, if not more. But I can feel my riding skills draining out of me the less and less I ride. I used to be utterly fearless on a bike when I was dispatching, now it takes a bit of effort to wind the wick up
5k per annum motorway commute on the zzr, 3.5k p/a tearing around on the 1198, Maybe 2k prattling around on the Monstro (and Chinese 125s). Oh, and a fair bit in an Insignia.
Bought a 2003 multi 2 and a half years ago it had 6235 miles on it. Currently in northern spain just clocked 27100. Buy em to ride em
Managed around 150 miles this year, so that's now approaching 700 miles in total over the three and half years I've had the old girl. Silly to keep her really, but I can't sell, it's just to darn gorgeous. Next March she is due another major service, the third one since I've owned the old thing. Worth it, oh yes, every penny!!!
I appear to have done a miserable 2'500 kms, which was nearly all going to work and back (albeit, it's quite a nice little run) a couple of times a week. Just been too poor and busy to take it anywhere sensible. If things work out as I am hoping, it will go to France a bit next year (and I don't just mean a pop over the border).
I do about 6k a year to work alone. So far done now 9.5k since last post and I got months left till end of year so will do minimum of 11k this year, closer to 12k. Thank God my 695 engine is off 07 model or it would be two services a year
Done only a 1000 miles on my 1199 and 800miles on the 1000ss. But then I've only done 3000 miles in the car!. They only let me out for good behaviour!.
