A few years ago I did a track day at Croft , there was a guy riding a Honda 600 Dullville on ply wood compound tyres AND it was beige !!! it had 90 ,000 miles on the clock , he was one of the quickest riders out there in the damp morning sessions but boy did he suffer when it dried up . I followed him for a few laps in utter amazment at what he was doing to that poor old commuter bike he had every decked out , panniers exhaust and of course knees . I spoke to him later ,turns out he was a riding instructor [ hence the mileage] and he'd raced 500 2strokes back in the day Moral of the story never ever under estimate any one even if they are riding an inappropriate bike Respect to you all I know quite a few so called fast guys on R1's Blades etc that won't go on a track , I would love to hear the excuse if they came across Mr Dullville
I saw Jamie Whitham scaring the crap out of everyone ragging a Deauville round track a few years ago. He was fookin' flying too.
I was at Cadwell with Nick Jeffries a few years back - he had a kwak tourer on touring tyres with panniers and used that - and he was much much faster than everyone else
I have ridden this at Outlon (it was rubbish, way too slow for there really) and Cadwell (much more fun here) and here is last weekends action shots from RAF Valley trackday. tops out around 90 with me on it, but it can corner quite well and the massive front brake stops it sharpish too.
When I did a trackday at Bedford Autodrome, one of the guys had a BMW K1600 six. It's big, heavy and wide, but he was quicker than me (and most others).
Was the rider really big as well? A mate of mine rides one of them and is indecently quick on it.....
