This is a very reluctant sale of what is, in my opinion, the best bike I have ever ridden! (New baby and the (extortionate) costs of childcare that are rapidly looming forces sale!) The bike was originally supplied by Snells Ducati in Alton, and has since been back there for every single service (Fully documented in handbook) at the correct interval. The last service conducted by Snells was in April this year when I bought it from them, and included a 12 month warranty with European breakdown cover. The remainder of this (7 months) is therefore included within this sale. It's unmolested except for a few carbon goodies and benefits from having a Thatcham approved Datatool alarm/immobiliser (installed on original sale) complete with the original installation invoice. It’s just taken me to Germany and back (arranged on this forum) and, apart from giving me the time of my life, it didn’t miss a beat. I’ve never experienced comfort levels this high on a sports bike before and although after 13 hours in the saddle I was beginning to ache, once at our destination it didn’t take long before I was changed and in the bar chilling out (Ignore the fact I had to hunt for my hotelier in a different hotel first!) In summary: · 2008 Ducati 848 in pearlescent white · 13,300 miles · 2 previous owners · Tyres are getting low (1000+ miles) but rather than throwing cheap ones on and boosting the price, I’ve kept them on so the new owner can choose their own · 7 months warranty, including European breakdown cover · Full Ducati (Snells) service history, fully documented in the service book · All previous MoT’s · 7 months tax and MoT · Thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser · 2 keys and alarm fobs · Ducati owners handbook and warranty booklet · Asking price of £5750 ovno I’m gutted to be selling it. It has to be the only bike I have ever ‘gelled’ with immediately and as clichéd as it sounds, it really does make you feel like you’re a part of it, or it’s a part of you, and not just a passenger as I’ve experienced on other bikes in the past. Even though it has the standard cans, as most on here will know, there’s no other sound quite like a Ducati underneath you! (obviously there is if you include Termi’s, but I hadn’t got round to the fiddling stage!) Anyway, I’ve procrastinated enough! It’s taken me 2 weeks to get round to writing this so it’s really time for it to go. My attempts to come up with ways of keeping it have been fruitless – my son will never know just how close he came to appearing on eBay!!! PM me any questions etc. Viewings can take place most afternoons/evenings and some weekends by appointment only. Test rides are welcome but only when I see your driving licence/insurance and asking price in cash in my hand. No test pilots, canvassers or biblical maniacs please. Thank you. (photo's to follow.) I live near Guildford.
Sorry Matt If you weren't a maniac of biblical proportions would you have been in? (Sense I could have scuppered a certain sale?!)
@Matt - too bad. @bettes - cheers mate. It really is a hard decision to make. I love everything about this bike. (Still trying to hatch a plan to keep it!) @Exige - when I bought the bike I wasn't sure, so to erase any doubt whatsoever I took it to Germany in the chance it may rain properly. It did, on a couple of occasions and the good news is that the bike didn't dissolve, explode or internally combust, as I feared it might.
Bit of a bump but I'll listen to any serious offers? It is on ebay but would be happy to deal on here..
I know it's totally the wrong time of the year to sell a bike, but needs must! I've had a few sniffs, but nothing committal! Before I remove the bike from sale I'll reduce the price to the absolute bottom I will accept - if it doesn't sell then I'll keep it as I can't justify losing too much. The bike is due a service in April, to include belts, and the chain/sprockets will probably be needing a replacement then too. Bearing that in mind, I will accept no less than £5000. There is still 6 months Ducati warranty remaining so someone could get a bit of a bargain! I'll reduce the price on eBay after the weekend but will give anyone on here the chance first. PM me any questions you may have
Don't make it harder than it already is dude. It's a major battle between head and heart as it is! The way I see it is that if I didn't sell at 5750 now then I'd more than likely not sell it over winter and be re advertising in the spring. At which point the service would be due and the warranty all but gone. It would benefit from a new chain/sprocket for the new season along with tyres too. The money I'm losing now is about what I'd spend next year. My heart secretly hopes it doesn't sell, my head has switched off!
Could make a good donor bike for your pedathon. ...just whack a c50 engine in and you'd be laughing all the way to the chequered flag! Thanks mate.
After having little interest and more importantly, coming to my senses I'm withdrawing the ad on here. I would currently find it close to impossible accepting much less than the original £5.75k and would rather keep it. I'm letting the eBay ad run it's course and if nothing comes of that I'll reassess in spring next year. With a little luck the need to sell will pass..... If mods could close this thread it'd be appreciated. Thanks.
Going into the winter is never the easiest time to sell a bike. Cross fingers come the Spring, we'll see you out there riding
