1199 handles superbly, and its best handling bike ive ridden. Just look at a corner and its around it. Unlike all the other slow steering dukes ive had/ridden. So...Why cant i get rid of the chicken strips on the rear of my 1199? The obviuos answer is to lean more , but ive got it cranked right over , and riding much quicker than any other bike ive ridden . Ive never had this problem on any other bike ive ridden and strips are gone on my other bikes easily. All these had a 180 rear. That big 200 section tyre has so much rubber its doing my head in.
If it's not you then: tyre profile Vs rim width Vs tyre size? Do they have 6" rims as that will slightly over crown a 200 section tyre maybe?
Chicken strips means that there is still more fun to be had on your bike! No chicken strips equals no further fun possible But seriously, on a 190 or 200, I'd expect to see strips from a road bike. On the track though ... must try harder
Just checked, standard fitment is 200 section with a 6" rim, maybe this is slightly over tyred for marketing/bling purposes? There's a minefield of recommendations but I found some Bridgestone recommendations: 180 section race tyre - ideal rim width 6" 190 section race tyre - ideal rim width 6" but 6.25" OK. These point to yours being slightly over tyred. If you have standard fitment Pirelli Diablo Super Corsa SP's other owners may be along in a minute to say it's you though
yeh be interesting to hear from people who have the same bike/tyre combo. Track day could get rid of them i bet, but im too scared of flinging it down the gravel.
They look respectable for a road bike to me. To ensure mine are as nr the edge as possible I use the M25 to M3 london bound curve for the RHS or the M23 to M25 eastbound. For the LHS I use the M25 to M23 London bound and the M25 to A22 Caterham bypass. You can commit to these if you time them right with no traffic. The only time i rid myself of them completely on the road would be in France.

That chewing of the tyre? I was wondering about that, was ok at Silverstone then at Donny it started doing that. Still very green with all this so it's huge learning process.
I would have been sceptical myself, but I've seen the difference in my tyres on track days, before and after I starting working on my suspension settings. I loved seeing tears and marbles on my tyres, gave me a warm glow, but that sort of thing isn't optimal. I don't see them any more and it isn't because I have slowed down

As long as you are enjoying your bike, d8mok, who gives a flying fuck what anyone else thinks? Different tyre profiles and sizes will have different chicken strip parameters.
Mines the same on my 1199 & I've properly had it on its ear on the Dolfor rd through Wales to Newtown Where as I could run the 190 on my 1098s all the way to the edge same size rim I think ? So it must be the 200 profile tyre ??
