Castle Combe Noise Limit

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Dave, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. I have an unexpected day off on Wednesday so I'm thinking about doing the track day at Castle Combe. Do you know if a 848 is likely to pass noise testing on Termis with baffles or do I need to put standard pipes on?

  2. What's the limit on the day? Mine is about 102 without baffles from slash cut end cans rather than a full system. Obviously depending on conditions

  3. Worth a go, its low and silly high revs but with baffles you may be ok.

  4. Dave, give Rich Llewellin a shout he'll know because he's there every TD. I do know that Rob Jones rides a 1098 but not sure if its Termi or standard. Have you been there before, the sessions are only 10 minutes a group so you get very little track time. Grouping is random as well, you could be in a group with any level of rider. Not the best use of £125 in my opinion, that said need must and I might be up for it as well as a bit of a leg stretch for the minitwin before racing it at Thruxton on Saturday.

  5. Btw my mates 916 std cans do, and I think his termi baffled did until the wadding dissipated!

  6. Just had a look. 105db should be OK but the guy on the noise meter is notorious. Take those baffles!

    Could be tempted myself!

  7. @Drinky any tockets you know going spare for thruxton?

  8. At 3/4 revs remember, not 5k

  9. I pinged Rich on FB and was waiting for his reply. He reckons should be OK with baffles in - defo on standard cans. Agreed, the way they run the day isn't the best but there aren't any other options on Wednesday and I'm desperate for some track time !

  10. Indeed mate, needs must.

  11. Bradders, I have three 'tockets' at the moment but not sure if the wifes got plans on watching my first race, how many are you after?

  12. Just the one, others can get their own ;) lol

You want a hand or got plenty of tea makers? Not got anything on this weekend...

  13. Tickets yours mate, I'm fine as a mate is taking me under his wing. I wasn't going to start till next season but was talked into using Thruxton to see how things run at a race so in March at Brands at least I'll have some idea of what to expect. To be honest I'm expecting to be at the back of the grid to start the race and stay there till the end, hopefully.

  14. My 848 with baffles in has got through twice...:upyeah:

  15. Why test at 3/4 revs when acu testing for a twin is 5k ??
I think everyone should boycott the events here !!

  16. Because people buy houses in the village and then complain about noise coming from a race circuit.

  17. The whole track day set up at Combe is very 'odd' but it has its followers you get more people who ride there and less racers so its a sort of 'rebellious IAM' mecca. Great cafe though.

  18. Stop going, and stop spending money there !!
And just ride thru villages near by instead !!
But remove ur baffles first !-)

  19. I was hoping to get there this weds with a couple of mates, one last one before monsoon season!
Abandoned now as weather looks arse....:Bag:
